Add India to that list as most company call centres r now based in India and thats where most of the scammers call from now but divert the call to a UK based number so u cant spot them so easy.If u have a decent providor they should have a place where u can report scam numbers so they can block them for u and all its other users.
They also try and track where the call originated from and get the police their to arrest them. But as its now mostly India the police there wont do anything as they get back handers from the scammers.
I was getting calls several times a week from my ISP claiming my internet will be disconnected within 24 hrs unless i gave them access to my PC to fix a problem with my connection. Dont do it. Keep them talking as long as possible to run up their phone bill and stop them getting at others who might be vulnerable and not understand its a scam.
Or if u know how. setup a virtual desktop then get them to use team veiwer so they think they r on ur PC and while they think theyr r deleting ur files ur delting their real files lol.
What they do is delete ur files then say we will restore ur files once u pay us a certain amount of money.
Another trick which annoyes them is ask them for their address to send them the phone bill as its a premium rate number with £1.50 connection fee plus £1.50 per minuute lol. U can legaly do that by informing them its premium rate number as soon as u know its a scammer and u can send them a bill for the call they made to u.
Most hang up as soon as i say that but some r more persistant and keep talking anyway.
