Seriously, why do most of the profiles have absolutely no description of what the person is like at all?

Everyone keeps on saying that being shallow is wrong and all that, but they seem to be promoting it by only showing you what they look like without listing any interests or hobbies etc.

And there should be a cut off date for deleting profiles that haven't logged in for over a year!

I agree, how are you supposed to strike up a conversation with someone who gives nothing away? Hard work!

Personally I take profiles with a pinch of salt nowadays. Can we give an honest synopsis on our selves?....or would some want to?
As for interests and hobbies, most women I chat to [not on this site] haven't really got any Maybe younger women are different.

That wont happen. I suspect the owners of these type sites want/need as many members as possible, so wont be cutting down the membership just because users don't log in.

I agree... I've read many posts and advice saying when messaging women you should comment on what they have written... and I want to... but they are often blank (or very simular to each other).

And its not just this site either... there is one I'm on where the women fill out there profiles and give a lot of info, but most are just like this one.

This online dating malarkey's harder than it seems!

I think that people are naturally going to choose what profiles they look at based on the photos, because no matter what people say, the first impression comes with the photo. Whilst it is by no means fair, interesting and wonderful people will be missed out because they are too shy to put a photo up =(

~Also, I'd like to say that pretty pictures are nice, but crazy ones of people pulling faces/wearing cool accessories/being natural , these are the ones that pique my curiousity more =)
Some people are shallow these days, and there's no point putting your pics up if they're all the same! This is verging on a rant so I'll leave this here for now Smile

Why do you think you caught my attention? Razz

This also seems to be my excuse for having a picture of me with my top hat on.

I have a minimal profile but I'd prefer women get to know me via Flirtbox itself first rather than reading through a thorough, turgid life-story.

Besides with 42 years of assorted life to describe there is far too much to put on.

Do I write about my living in Paris for two years, my life-long love of writing (and literate games), my love of exercise, the missing cat-shape hole in my life or my degree, qualifications and patents?

Should I translate the whole thing into French too or provide self-draw cartoons of important life events?

So instead I provide a single sentence, a striking picture and an complete, first-stage profile.

Does this mean that your cat (that wasnt there to begin with, thus the hole) has gone missing, or you've now gotten a cat so the hole is now filled, thus the hole is missing, or your cat is missing, or it's gone forever and you havent replaced it yet?
I am confuddled because my flu came back with a vengeane and I feel like a donkey kicked me in the cheekbones.
And is this condundrum about cats and holes a man playing games with my head?!

I'm impressed at how you've avoided the obvious link between cats and holes...

I can only assume that PG has a new front door lacking a cat flap

I used to have a cat, Charlie, who came to end of his natural life some years ago. For a time he was the only living thing that I was responsible for.

He was a great cat, very vocal and intelligent, and had proved to be very ameniable to socialisation from an early age and could even be trained. He was part raised by a very maternal dog, which helped.

After my divorce his sister actually left me, leaving me with just my loyal henchcat.

Since his passing I've never been at a place where I can have a cat flap or where I can keep pets. As a result I'm pretty maudlin when it comes to cats.

The "hole" was poetic license (I think I'm still registered ... Smile) meaning that I was sans chat.

People may have noticed that, from time to time, I've been know to dispense cat training advice ...

*some people* had the flu and only vaguely recall certain conversations.... Razz

But yeah sometimes a pet when they depart your life nothing can fill that hole.
Like my Sooty, he was 21 when he died 2 summers ago and although I have/had several other pets since I miss him dreadfully. He was a family member, as was my greyhound Sally. Crying or Very sad

Oh and I've got totally off topic because I can't remember what this thread is about....damn flu!
