Have you had experience of dating somebody or becoming involved with somebody who was obsessive?
Obsessive about you, somebody they knew or a celebrity? How did you/they deal with it?
How do we define obsessive anyway? and what is acceptable?

one of my previous ex's was obsessed with her ex.. hence why she's now mine. Everything i did she'd make a snide comment like " well he never did it like that, or he did it better than you did" in the end, she got the birdy and i walked out !
my bro's missus has ocd - it's funny in a not really kind of way ![]()

If there really is to be a soul mate out there, I think your soul mates are those people who make you feel at home, wherever you are. That hearing their voices and knowing they're close to you (even if in thought) makes you feel at ease. |

Does me being obsessive compulsive count? LOL
I think I've dated some weirdos in my time, but I don't remember dating someone who was obsessive. Actually I'm strugglin to remember even someone that I haven't dated being obsessive and I can't remember. LOL
People who are obsessive usually obsess in their mind, not outside. And on a rare occasion they confess to others that they're obsessing about things, but usually only to best friends or such.
Actually, if I think about it, most of my friends are obsessed with their houses being spotless.
Anyhew... To get to what I initially wanted to say...
I once met this guy I obsessed about. Now I have lots of mind problems... And I've been completely honest with him. I mean brutally honest. Telling him even secrets I'd never tell anyone else. Also told him about my obsessing problems. I'd even tell him sometimes that I'm really scared of him leaving and that I'm obsessing about it, all my blackest thoughts - like not being good enough for him and such...
And in spite of all this, of all my obsessive thoughts and actions, he still loved me. We eventually fell apart, but it wasn't because of me being a nutter, but because of another reason.
Point is... When you love someone... I think you can go over almost anything to be with them.
And if you don't love them... Actually... I think I'm gonna make this another topic.
Cheerio! =))))))))) MEHEHEH

I can't handle obsessive behaviour in life, drives me potty, unfortunately I've come across it once with a boyfriend, who I'd rather not think about otherwise he'll probably turn up at my door and another that stalked me for a bit.
In my work situation I used to come across it quite often, it was different altogether from people I came across in my personal life, but I have to say, those that had been brought up in convent school/homes were more likely to have displayed problems of obssession, in particular cleaning and scrubbing as well as forming obsessive attachments to others.

How do you deal with it? By telling them to get lost!
Life's too short to have someone hanging over your shoulder, demanding to know where you are going, with who and why... There's taking interest, then there's being obsessive. Unless you have a low self esteem, no one enjoys it.
The only way to deal with it is by them realising it and changing. You can't change someone else's behavior.

If by 'obsessive' you mean 'stalkerish'...then Yes, I have dated one.
As somebody that has OCD, there is a major difference between that kind of obsessive and the stalker kind of obsessive.
It took a restraining order on this ex to get rid of him.
