In that case, I shall make sure my hands are free to protect my eyes whenever I visit here. I'm the picture of innocence, you know.

Flirtbox is the first and only website I have used, and I wasn't even going to join this one- I'm glad I did though Very Happy

Ill freely admit I have used a few sites in the past- have been on match.com a three times (each for a month at a time), S1 Dating (one month) every time dissapointed. I did meet someone on match.com on the very last time I was there and we had a short relationship that fizzled out. Did get emails back and forwards from ladies but overall it was bascially a rip-off! Did I feel I got my moneys worth- a big fat NO!!! i have to say the sites I have paid for I have always been dissapointed with the lack of variety of people and the fact they were quite pricey.-and the worst thing about pay sites is that you may find a profile you like and send an email and you end up emailing someone who isnt a paying member anymore and cant email you!!-cause they got the free trial on match.com and thought it was crap!
And now these days I use Plenty of Fish and Flirtbox. I'm not a fan of plenty of fish but hey the more exposure the better in finding someone!-only going on to it now and then. However I do like Flirtbox-have met a few good people here-online and in person and its much more friendlier. It feels on here people are less arrogant.
I feel if you are looking for something and someone you should put yourself out and if your not paying-well its kind of rude not to!!!!!!

I signed up to two initially, this one and one other. Both free, but the other one didn't have as many members. I actually received a few messages on the other site, but it didn't take long to realise it was a site that was only really used by people hooking up for sex.

I now only use this one.

I have been on a few dating sites but mostly they turn out to be free to join then expect you to pay to contact someone. This one is so so, dont think much of the chatroom and find some of the settings dont work. I use this site only now but am still looking for something with a better chat room so that I can get to know a few people better[/b]

I always felt ripped off when I was on match.com a while ago-would send out emails and get no replies and I was still being billed for the privelige of me putting in the effort for nothing. Maybe because what I wrote in emails then I found out to be the same as every other guy the generic "hi liked your profile-lets chat sometime" etc. As i have learned now-paying is a mugs game!

seems like most people stick to one at a time. plentyoffish and flirtbox are the biggest free ones I think. I suspect fish is a lot bigger going by the size of their forums although i find the ones here friendlier in their smallness. Even why the forums here aren't more popular is a bit of a mystery, given there's approx 9000 people active on the site in any given month.....

Well I only used bebo, profile pic and VF at first for friends only. Met my ex (had no intention of being together) on bebo.

Recent events led me to join one site to meet more people as for I have no social life, recently decided after looking deeply on everything. Hey lets join as many as possible for friends or a relationship.

Perhaps the forum could do with more promoting when signing up, and on the front page, to make people more aware of it's existence and the fact it does get used.

If the IRC channel with java access ever happens, then that too could do with being advertised on the main page too.

it already exists on the main page but i think there's way too much info on the main page as it is. if we're already subscribers we dont need to see the welcome essay every time. we should be seeing lists or random pictures of online users or a site news section. last 10 groups created, new subscribers in a more prominent location etc

Why not put all your suggestions peeps into the suggestions thread and maybe Toby will have a look at them and be able to do something. I do agree that the forums and chat rooms chould probably be a bit more promoted though

Yeah. I'd go along with that. I ignore the front page for that very reason & go to whatever part of the site I'm wanting to look at.

I'd modify that list of things to this, thohgh.

1. News items - although I'd only go with that if there if it was updated frequently enough.
2. Show the last x threads replied to or the the busiest x threads over the last 2 days.
3. A selection of the most recently approved pictures. Perhaps this could be filtered according to the members interests, ie. showing only men, only women, or both.

I think 3 Clearly defined areas, well laid out, would be more than enough. The only thing I'd add to that would be a click through advert to real-time chatting.

Shouldn't this go in the section about feedback and ideas ?
