If you want some fun, feel free, I've been laughing at myself for years Laughing Been really missing the Uk and Ireland, you can't get any decent bacon or suusage in Vienna! Funny the things you miss when away from home what? Be heading to Dublin for the summer though, so looking forward to a big Irish breakfast and a couple of pints of the black stuff!

Are you joking?

If you think there is a proper butcher in Ireland he/she should prove it any take part in one of the international butcher competitions....

The international bacon competition is on May, 8th 2007 in Frankfurt.
The one for sausages is on May, 10th, 2007.

http://iffa.messefrankfurt.com/global/en/messebesuch_competitions.html

I think it is easier to ask a butcher in Vienna to produce "British" bacon or sausages then the other way round........

If you want to have a "British" sausage taste you simple need to leave out all the ingredients....and maybe add some liver or kidneys.

I think you are far better off to live in Vienna then someone from Vienna who lives in the UK....food is cheaper and you can get a wide selection than in the UK.

Just compare a British bakery with one in Austria or Germany.... In the UK you get almost only one type of white bread, pies and cakes that glow in the dark in a bakery....in Vienna you have about 100 different types of white, brown and black rye bread and lots of sweet things as well as Bretzeln/Pretzels and multi-grain bread...and bread that does not fall into peaces if you want to spread butter on it as it has another texture and consists of more then just water and wheat. You can not even get fresh yeast in the UK, and not the amounts you would need to run a bakery.

You have different shapes and colours of bread in the UK, but all have the same texture and taste. Not even the texture of French white bread (baguette) is 100% the same as in France. In Austria (Germany, Switzerland, Belgium...Netherlands.....) "French" bread and croissants are 100% the same as in France....

The same at the butchers - the selection in Austria/Germany/Switzerland is about 1000 time greater then in the UK. In the UK you will never find Kassler meat, Krakauer sausages, white sausages, "Wiener", or "proper" ham

Basically there is not much difference between bread in Austria, Germany, Siwtzerland.....and even France...the only difference is that in France they focus on the white bread ... although they have a really good type of "brown" bread with walnuts....and in France they have banana bread...maybe because of the French islands in the Carribean.

It is within an educational context

Dont get me wrong: it is probably Australien or American tourists....they often show their breasts on the Oktoberfest when they are drunk...and statistically if you record all the origin countries of the female, drunken breast-showers...you will find those countries in the top 3
