Reading profiles, I wonder if the majority of the people using this site are divorced. And I also wonder the reasons of these divorces, plus why do you think there are so many divorced people using these sites.

There is nothing wrong using dating sites, the question is made because I see many people with kids and single, plus the fact that the divorce rates are quite high (with some people talking about 50% of marriages ending in divorces).

Doesnt mean in this day and age that because people have kids that they have been married before does it??

I wouldnt even personally consider it a sign in this day and age. Could be one of many reasons.....ie a long term relationship which didnt work, a short term one which resulted in a baby for various reasons. There are so many reasons...Its not so straighforward>

It is a sign if people get married and then decide to have kids or not in this day and age, as if there are so many people who have kids and they never had a divorce, that means that they prefered or it happened to have a child without being married. Now, there are many reasons why someone could be in such a situation, but this is a topic for another thread.

personally speaking i found that when i got divorced it was difficult to meet new people because most of my friends are married and would rather stay in with their families on most weekends. i think before u get married u tend to know a lot of single people and have more opportunity to have nights out. i found i lost contact with a lot of my single friends when i got married and had kids. my kids go to their dad on a sat night and i try to go out if i can drag a friend out with me.

Been married and divorced twice.
The first one, well, we probably should never really have married to start with and we grew apart. The 2nd marriage ended because, to cut it short, I had grown scared of him.
I joined this site as a way of making new friends, having a few friendly flirtations (when you're a full time single mum, you need to remind yourself occasionally that you are a woman in your own right too) and possibly meet someone.
I've fulfilled all the above since joining fb
