Being on these internet dating/chat sites has made me realise that 99% of women are obsessed with children, or wanting them?

I wondered what the percentage of women in the 30 to 45 age group are child free and want to stay that way?

And what are the chances of them being on here - needle in a haystack springs to mind!

I can only speak for myself of course, I have no idea about the statistics here.
I am 42. My kids are 16 and 20 (the eldest getting married next week) so I wouldnt call myself 'child obsessed' nor do I want anymore - but I suppose I do chat about them often enough on here and in private, simply cuz they are a big part of my life.
I am sure though there are women out there who have never had kids nor want any in the future.

I guess that makes me the needle in your haystack as I am "child free and want to stay that way" - but don't ask me to pretend my grown up kids dont exist cuz I am proud to mention them. Razz
Actually, I would have thought that the age group of women who have dependent kids and possibly want more are in a much younger age bracket than you suggest?

Yes, I guess you do fall into that 'childfree' category as both yours are adults anyway and I guess not so much of a tie/responsibility?

I am on 2 other free dating sites, **************and **********and both of them have a tick box stating whether you ahve children or whether you want them - and many women in the 30-45 age group put yes or maybe in the latter!

Ticking boxes -- hhhmmmm, a tad too black and white perhaps?
If I were to join a site where you tick these boxes (I have seen them) I would tick yes on both counts - simply because I do have 2 kids and the tick box does not give the option to say they are grown up and dont live with me, and also I would be happy to meet a man who has kids, which is why i would tick yes to wanting them. Perhaps that is wrong and it means to actually have babies which would be clearly a No for me....I can only guess and assume that there is also an option to expand on what those ticked boxes mean.
Or maybe its just a case of more women these days are waiting til after they have satisfied their need for a career before looking to have babies?

I'm child free.....ie they've grown up and left the nest and I've been single for years now.

Tick boxes on other sites don't work often with the child options given. I've only ticked, just in case a guy I liked had kids, I wouldn't rule them out completely but don't really want responsibilities of children again.

I recently was passed a three-day trial with the dating service run by a UK broadsheet. The trial is over now but it was quite interesting.

The majority of women there, with an age similar to mine, were looking for men to have children with.

This is not an unreasonable thing though. If someone was looking for an intelligent, reasonable father then that is the paper to go for. Also those women were nearing the end of the period in which pregnancy remains an uncomplicated affair.

Not much use for me though as I discovered that I'm one of those blokes effected by increased male infertility. I even found out in a study that my body knows and has already mustered a hormonal response in order to try and rectify things.

So I would be fibbing big-time if I ticked a yes in a Maybe box for a "Do you want children?" question because, outside of medical intervention, I'm lead to believe it isn't possible.

In essence I ruled myself out of that site by being honest but I can't live any other way.
