This guy here:
uses 2 big tanks to store hot water for the whole year.
In the summer, the water is heated through the sun...and the hot water is stored in those tanks.
From April to October/November, the water can be heated through the. From November/December until February/March, the hot water is used from the tanks.
So this is a zero-energy solution...
In the summer those tanks are about 80 degrees hot and in the winter still about 40 degrees.
The only problem is that the insolation (~1,00 m) costs about 40,000 Euros and the costs of the tanks on top. But if several houses share an even bigger tank, this is even more efficient.

I like the fact that the tanks are really unobtrusive. You'd hardly know they were there.

strange, that the ocean is not 80degree into the summer, so we can bath at 40degree into it on the winter
used to live in Turkey. they use that "thechnologie"....and the water is not getting warmer than 30degree in the summer and especialy if they are as deep as the one in the picture....
probably, with "the global warming",this year, we should espect to feel in UK ,like in the Tropical countries.... and have little tigers, as pets

Surely no-one is suggesting we try and that in the UK? It would only get slightly warm during 2 weeks in August, if at all....
