WAY HAY a convo to do with the love of my life........... MUSIC.
1.linkin park are not goth!!
2. the cure are not goth!!
but that my opinion.
and atm the big sub group is EMO with is kinda hard to explain on the internet easyer to point one out but yes there music is a tiny lil bit gothic but i wouldent call it goth. trvium are a big emo band when it was just a heavy rock band!! but lets not get on to emos coz this topic is about gothic music. in my eyes gothic music is marylin manson, ozzy ozborn. but music is full of opinions and every ones opinion to me counts.

The Cure ARE goth. (I had this argument with another person earlier in a music shop, funnily enough!)
For me, it's about the lyrics when it comes to goth. The cure have some of the darkest lyrics.

Manson? ...a lot of the teeny bopper goths base themselves on him. I consider him as poser goth, rather than anything else.

I agree, Linkin park are more chav*shudders* than goth.

u see i dont see the cures music as gothic as a hole!. i know they have or used to have alot or gothic fans but i just dont see them as gothic. and for manson he is 100% goth read his book "The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell" its a really good read my fave book. linkin park are no where near chav its still rock in my eyes and i like linkin park and i aint chav but the again i love so much music i cant fit in to any group (goth, grunger, emo, chav or gangster) as i love rock bands such as manson KORN!!! amricanhead charge but i also like thing at the other end of the scale like 50cent, akon them kinda of artists but i also love hardcore and trance. but again most of this is just opinions

Korn make me want to cut my ears off.

The chav guys that were in my class at college(thank god I have finished now) used to listen to Linkin Park..I did like them before that. That just put me off them.

I don't belong into any 'group' either.

Some of my current playlist to give people an idea:
Foo Fighters
Greenday
Bruce Springsteen
Muse
Panic! at the disco
Josh Groban
The cure
The who
Gwen Stefani
Black Sabbath.

I know most of that is rock or whatever, but it is all totally different!

I have two computers...

One that I keep all the music on, and then my laptop which I just use for college and stuff.

I have more CD's than HMV does.

I always buy CD's.

It's ok to download the odd song, but not full CD's.

Our spare room is just full of CD's. Boxes and boxes of them.

Right, am back...

Goth, Mazza with sweet dream could be goth, Ozzy is not goth and the cure deffo are goth (all obvoious IMHO).

Hardware-wise I have a number of CDs, none are under my bed because I keep breaking beds ( Razz ). But ripped they're the best part of half my HDD (age has uses you know).

I think that the fundamental meaning of goth has been subverted by the mainstream, so much so that goth is no longer recognised as such; seemingly heavy metal has taken its place.. Don't get me wrong, I like metal but it is all tripe really.

Goth has soul (no mention of soldiers please), I am ignorant about emo (age again) but it sounds more like whiny indie (cf The Smiths) rather than goth

Hey, Kylie is indie and I Heart kylie...

I think I meant indie that is whiney rather than indie is whiney (just because indie is soooo broad a category and based on record label rather than music Wink )
