Ever since I first got into House music 16 years ago I have wanted to be a DJ. After starting to run my own club night earlier this year I got to have a couple of sessions on some decks at some private parties at my club nights DJ's houses. After seeing me in action the DJ's all said I had natural talent so I decided I would get myself some DJ equipment to practice on.

My 30th birthday is coming up in January so as a joint xmas and birthday present my lovely family said they will buy me what I need to get started.

I have just bought 2x Technic 1210 MK2 turntables, a KAM twin CD deck and a Gemini PS 676 Pro mixer.

I have friends who know the people who run SWAG Records in Croydon so I am going down there soon and buying headphones and my first records.

I am very excited about this and just thought I would share it with you

Yeah i'm sorry but house music contains so many frequencies and to make them all sound as good as possible you need to play it very loud lol

My room is in a loft conversion so my walls don't connect to the neighbours and the walls that do are very old thick brick walls.

Thanks guys, as soon as I get good enough you'll either have to come out and see me play live or you I will record a mix for you.

Ignore me, I actually have no idea what you lot are talking about, but I suddenly remembered how someone once on here accused me of posting opinions on subjects of which I know nothing, so decided to prove them right, if only to congratulate U4ric and wish him well AND post utter shite for a laugh at the same time! Twisted Evil

I'm sure you do know what were talking about but maybe just don't realise it. House music got so much bad press in the 80's and 90's most people believe it to be some thing its not.

Most chart pop people have House music singles and albums these days like Madonna's Confessions On A Dance Floor album. Although its not what I would expect to hear at the clubs I go to it is still House music. Also there are so many genres of House available like my mum always thought she would never like it but then when she heard some of the Jazzy techno I have she loved it.

Can I post a link to my favourite producers myspace page so that you can hear my favourite production? Even if you don't like it, if you don't know about House music I think you would be quite surprised to to hear what its like.

I love them. I need to build myself a new worktop before I can get it all setup correctly and also I don't currently have any headphones so I can't properly beat mix yet but I got the turntables hooked up to the mixer and have just been spinning some tunes.

The guy I bought the equipment off gave me over 100 vinyls to play with as well. Half of them are commercial house tracks I wouldn't normally listen to and the other half are R&B and Hip-hop again not my kind of thing but its still good practice to play with them until I buy some of my own stuff.

Yesterday I put on a few hip-hop instrumental tracks on one deck and then did some scratching with some vocals on another. It was a lot of fun and I think sounded pretty good for my first time.

Thank you for asking
