Went to see The Who at the SECC {before John Entwistle died} never drop a beat - then again years ago they probably thought - 'right lad's better get this together 'cause Johnny's coming to see us in 35 yrs time!!

Only draw back {apart from the sec not being the best venue in the world -more like a big aircraft hanger} was that I wanted to come away with my ears ringing and bleeding for day but band member Tinitus put paid to that.

Legends none the less

for cocktails the candle bar in the main square, for loose women slip a doorman 5 lats and get him to phone one it will save you a fortune (not that I did that) for loose fellas, the place is full of them looking for the women! the cuba bar 200yards from the main square has weekday happy hours between 5-7pm, a must for doubling up on the drinks. The food is great in most places but the DeLarcy Irish bar is exceptional, also the Medievil place is very good but a little more pricey. Fags are around 80p for 20 if you smoke bring a bagfull back and if you dont bring them back anyway to pay for your holiday!

Hmmm..sounds interesting!
I did go a couple of years ago, but it was with the parents..this time it's just me, my sister and my cousins going
Guess who's going to have to do any translations? Poor ol' me!

20 fags for 80p? Oh...I wonder if i'd get away with a spare suitcase. Confused

Too numerous to mention...James Brown, Four Tops, Clash, Blondie, The Farm, The Drifters, Slade, Temptations etc etc....most of these were in the 70's when they were in their prime.

you should be fine with any of the translations in the bars they all understand english, are you of Latvian blood? it would make sense, they are all very nice when you talk to them!

back on the subject of gigs attended, I got back to my local on Sunday fresh of the plane and they had a Punk night, the skeptics, neon maniacs and 3cr. what a welcome home...8 pints of guiness later I had to go home and get ready for work!

But if we get lost or anything, we could ask a local. Would be better to ask in their native, I think. And..My grandfather was Latvian.

8 pints of guinness..sounds like a good night to me

Anyway..I was meant to be going to see babyshambles earlier this month, but the gig got cancelled...peed me off a little!

Saw Blondie in 1978..for some reason everyone started chucking full beer cans at them, Debbie Harry ran off crying. They came back on again when it quietened down, then everyone started chucking them again...don't know why they were pretty good

But you've seen Simple Minds which I haven't, and they are my favorite group [even though they are Jocks Wink ]. I had a chance of seeing them at Milton Keynes Bowl about 22 years ago, Something I've always regretted not doing.

I hate it when people ruin gigs like that. Debbie Harry is one of my idols..

Simple Minds were brilliant!

Think it was a case of one person throwing a can then others following, there were loads of cans just bouncing and foaming up on the stage. No security there, so no one to stop it.
Was shame though.

That would be annoying.

Why waste beer? I would have just drank them, instead!
