Post subject: Great acting/singing.....
Probably the best performance I have seen for a while by an actor.
Maybe cos I haven't watched many films lately, but I have the Soundtrack to this film too, and even on that he doesn't sound half as good as in this clip.
(mean the second part, you'll have to bear with the first crap bit, it's the only clip on youtube)

If you haven't seen the film, it is brilliant, he did such a good job when he sang in the film, he sang in all the songs on the soundtrack too.
To be honest, I never really listened to much of Johnny Cash's music (or paid attention anyway), until I saw this film, but I think Joaquin Phoenix did the guy proud......

Joaquin Phoenix is an amazingly talented actor and i'd like to recommend Buffalo Soldiers - which is the film Jarhead wishes it could be It's about soldiers who are trained but have no war to fight, and so make lots of drugs. there's plenty of explosions and Anna Paquin is beautiful, xx

I like it when someone recommends good films, it saves me from reading the back of the box, and it gives me an insight into the sort of stuff people on here like too....

I like that somebody listened to one of my recommendations! for once! I just think Joaquin Phoenix is vastly underused and underappreciated! Let me know what you think of it and I can recommend anything - as i've always openly admitted, i am a proper film geek x

buffalo soldier had a much better story line than jarhead... jarhead was just a glorification of something that shouldn't be glorified..
as for singer/actors.. my favourite lady...Zooey Deschanel - she's fanf'kintastic she can act and she can sing and play numerous instruments and who knows what else !

What I meant by the comparison is the fact that both films portray soldiers with little to kill except time. The storyline in Buffalo Soldiers appeals to me more purely for the comedic elements, but that isn't to say that Jarhead wasn't watchable - although I would say it was not memorable in the least/

lol i know she is !! she has such a sweet singing voice too
