I lost interest in Pink Floyd when Syd left the band. Although I did have to go through the obligatory 6th form pot-smoking/floyd listening all-nighters that punctuated my dreadful middle-class youth.

Wow, you lost interest in 1968? You look a lot younger in yr photo!
......just kidding

Did you know Piper is being reissued in September? a triple disc set (stereo version, mono version with different takes, and '67 singles and b-sides - all tracks remastered)

I got into Pink Floyd when I was about ten years old, and listened to my dad's records. I now have over 100 CDs of live concerts (mostly pre-1972)

I love Pink Floyd. Favorite album's an obvious choice but it's got to be Dark Side of The Moon - I remember the first time I heard it, I was stoned and going through my dads old tapes, found DSOTM and decide to put it on as I've heard people talking about it. It blew me away and I've been a fan ever since.
Have any of you listened to Dub Side of the Moon, it's a reggae version of dark... and it is definetly worth a listen, sounds like a corny idea but really works, it's a complete homage to it and isn't over the top as it stays quite close to the original just dubbed up a bit!

The Floyd are amazing, the only band to release and oustanding record and follow it with an equally oustanding record. For me Dark Side and Wish You Were Here are equal - Shine On You Crazy Diamond is a magnificent track, as is Echo's Great Gig in the Sky and Us and Them.

Dub Side is that close to the orginial that all the track lengths are practically exactly the same. The toasting which replaces the solo in Money is fantastic. It gives it slightly diferent context.

Have you ever listened to Pickin' on the Floyd? It's a similar concept as dub side, but bluegrass. It sounds good too.

I'll need to check out the Bluegrass version! The Orb did a version of it too which is quite good, takes in on a chill out/ambient/house vibe but still pays homage to it. The guys that did dub side... have relased one of RadioHead's OK Computer and Ive also heard a bit of Dub Divison (joy division)!

Dark side of the Moon is my fav too. My friend gave it to me as a present when I was about 14 but it was years before I actually got around to playing it, then I got totally hooked on it and I played it to death. Wonderful album, in fact, I think I'll go listen to it now....
