elvis's music in doses is alright, his lively tunes anyway.
You can't beat tracks like

Blue Suede Shoes
A Little Less Conversation

but as a whole it largely awful, and his movies are the worst thing i have ever seen.....

I can remember the 60's when he was in his prime, him and the Beatles were immense, nothing like it will probably be seen again.

When he died in 1977 [I was a punk rocker] it was a total shock and there was a deep sense that something had gone. Just couldn't believe he was dead..and I wasn't his biggest fan at the time.

I like Elvis, i think he had a very good voice and his performance was great. He may not have written his own songs, but neither did Frank Sinatra, yet he was a well respected performer as well. Its a bit like saying people who like Nirvana will only like them because other people do and want to look cool. there is a sound and a style there and some people will like that and some wont.

In the same vein of thought, why do singers have to write there own songs to be good? do you expect an actor to write their own movies and tv shows all the time? a dancer to always choreograph themselves? of course not.

I've loved Elvis since dinosaurs ruled the earth - and not because other people did/do cuz I've yet to meet a full-blown out-and-out Elvis fan!
I just love his cheesy films too!
