I received a message today from (sexyiva). I knew it was a alien crank sending the message. When I clicked the subject of the message it took me to a website. Does anybody know how report this as when I checked the profile there was no report or message buttons on the wierdo's profile. Also the descriptions were false as everything listed began with A,B,C's etc. As though the crank who created the profile had selected everything in line, eg. music styles = 70s 80s Ambient anything Bhangra Blues Classical Country dance Drum&Bass Electro Pop. I have posted here as there seems to be no forum title where you can report such cranks. Earlier I posted on the spammer forum, but I believe the site owners don't check or take any action to such postings. Beware freak alien cranks who waste peoples' time by creating such stupid profiles. Thanks for reading.

It is impossible to link the subject of a message to an external website....the subject is always linked to the message.

When I open a pm sent to me it has buttons to choose from - "reply", "delete" and "report as abuse/spam". Were those buttons not with the message in your inbox?

I too have noticed before that only some profiles have "report this profile" button on them, not sure why.

I am of the understanding that the website owner is but one man who works away from his computer, so understandably can only do so much in so much time, so maybe we could suggest to him that he gives some of his moderators more 'power' to help him keep up with the work load on here?

Ok, it was possible - I have changed it. But only for internet explorer!
So use Firefox!

Marineman - everybody's profile favorite this and that is in alphabetical order, some are just back to front (Z-A).
Hope that helps you to know that a person's profile being in alphabetical order isn't contributary to them being weirdos. Very Happy

(And in response to your query on another thread about this is that they have 'chosen' not to state their ethnicity - lots of genuine people do that too.)

Personally, every time a person sends me a link to an outside website (usually another dating one) I simply hit "report as spam" which as I said in my inbox is there with the message.

Hope that helps.

Thanks but no that doesn't help at all. You appear to be very trusting. As I mentioned when I clicked the subject title - it took me to a website, so I couldn't report the profile (I use Firefox by the way). So when I read your last posting, I viewed the profile hoping to be able to click a report button, but there was no button. I know that it is a crank who has put up the profile. I think that they are not 19 years old, that they have not provided their ethnicity, because they are hiding something. Also their description has been chosen quickly without thought as it is all alphabetical - the first choice of each letter. My degree didn't even help me to work this one out. Finally, I still think this person is an alien crank wierdo who wants to waste everybody's time. Thanks for reading.

They had a javascript window.location script in their message.

So when you clicked on the title, the message was shown but immediately the site was redirected to the url they have provided in the message.

Yes G, I noticed the code in the notification that was sent to my email address. All we need now is for this type of non-human to be removed from the site.

The button is only in profiles with pictures as this was originally intended to report pictures only....

So you need to report those profiles here....for the time being.

I can't see anything wrong with her profile?
It looks exactly the same as lots of people's who write me "hi" then I'm stumped as to how to reply.
What should I be looking for to alert me to it being a dodgy? so I know in future to be wary?
Obviously, marineman was sent a link to another website, personally if anyone pm's me a website link I never click on it cuz you hear about how it takes you to a site that downloads trojans and wotnot.
Just wondering what alerted anybody to this one - by the profile alone - cuz I cant see anything wrong with it.
Cheers.

This is dragging on a bit now. If you look at the profile and think that is is not some idiot pretending to be a female who wrote a quick profile then you might just need to go to the school of wonderful trusting people. This one is most certainly fake. Also the subject title in the message looked like any other message subject title, e.g. hello or hi. It was when you clicked on the title that it took you to the site - you can't see that it is a website link.

School of wonderful trusting people? Why the sarcasm? That was a genuine question.
So what if its dragging on? Yes, you started the thread, but threads are like that sometimes, someone else reads it and has something to add.
If you wanted a personal thread you should have contacted one of the moderators or toby privately.
My question was directed really at Cazzabee because she seemed to think that just by looking at the profile it looked dodgy - and that she's never seen one like it before.
I've seen loads exactly like that, and of course Cazza being a moderator presumably is more savvy than I to recognise the dodgy profiles.
That doesnt make me 'trusting' though of course I do 'trust' until I have reason to feel otherwise.....which is why I would like to know how to spot a dodgy just based on a profile like that one.
If someone sends a link then yes of course you will 'know' they are dodgy, but just by that profile, no I don't.
And as I was asking about this specific profile for Cazza's advice, there was no need for me to begin yet another thread. And someone else might be reading this and thinking the same questions, which is why I've not asked her privately.
Sorry to tread on your toes marineman, I didnt mean to do that.

I see, thanks Cazzabee, I thought you meant you had spotted an obvious warning sign that I was missing.
