A little about my background may give an indication of why I can see what the government is up to. It may also give an indication of why I might appear more rebellious about what this government does to us.

I've never worked for any government organisation or been in any way involved with the government.

I was born in the UK and raised from the age of 2 in Asia until I was 11 when we returned From Singapore. This means I have had schooling in Army schools overseas, even back in '71, the education system here was so far behind that I was two years ahead when my dad left the army and I had to attend a school here. This meant that I was never subjected to the "brainwashing" that they teach here to bow down and accept everything without question.

Along with my Asian cultural background which taught me limited tolerance for injustice and the ability to see corruption when it happens, no matter how well covered up. Indonesia is a good example of what happens in Asia when you push them too far and President Suharto learned the hard way in 1998. If all that we have had done to us had happened in Asia, there would have been mass riots and anarchy many years ago.

Asia has a big problem with corrupt officials but, unlike Britain, it doesn't deny it and sweep it under the carpet. Instead they admit it and say they are trying to deal with it but it's not an easy task. We have as much, if not more corruption here but it is hidden and covered up well enough that most people don't see it. Not that anyone would do anything if it was seen. If something turns up in the papers, they sack some low rank scapegoat, all is well and little more is said about it and it's very soon forgotten.

People in the UK have been taught to have short memories. The gov't goes in and blows up some dictator and suddenly, they are a good gov't and all the past indiscretions and problems they've caused are forgotten.

Thatcher used that tactic herself in the Falklands, how many more years in office did that buy her after the multiple foul ups and corrupt party dealings previous to that? I know that Argentina was not intending to takeover the Falklands, they have always had close dealings since they are a neighboring country. It was pure politics to get people to divert their attention.

Whether it is just intuition or not, I can't be sure, but I have a limited ability to see cause and effect. When the gov't created the rule that people under 26 on benefits had to move every 6 weeks if they were in B&B, I told the local MP in Sheerness that it would lead to an increased suicide rate. This was mainly because they would spend most, if not all of that time looking for somewhere else to live instead of looking for work. 6 months after it became law, my prediction was proved true in the national papers. There have been many times I have predicted correctly since, although a few times I have been wrong but not nearly as many. For this reason, I have learned to trust my ability.

There is nothing special about me, I can't foretell the future, I wish I could. The easiest analogy I can give is:
I take all the information I have and put it together like stones to form a path, then I simply look ahead to where the path is leading after I run out of stones. As long as a new piece of information doesn't make the path deviate, sometimes I can see the destination.

My one big mistake was staying here when I had the chance to work for Texas Instruments in Dallas when I was 25 in 1975. I turned it down because the economy here was on the upturn and I predicted Britain was heading for a boom time although it didn't actually happen until the early 80's. Now I regret that decision because at the age of 50, I am stuck here with little hope of getting out unless I get lucky and win the lottery.

I can easily predict that we will never see another 80's boom with the governments, both Conservative and Labour, doing what they are now. Unless people are prepared to stand up for what they believe in and tell the government that they have had enough, this country is on a steady road down.

Several reforms are required:

Make the government accountable for every penny they spend whether it be for their own expenses or anything else. Also accountable for every penny they receive.

A complete impartial review of public sector jobs to see where people are being paid for doing nothing. Also where many people are being employed to do a task that fewer are really needed for.

A complete impartial review of wages for politicians and senior officials, including expenses and perks.

Give us the power to vote at any time for no confidence. If this becomes a majority vote, it forces another general election, not just a change in leadership. This vote can be done using the NI number to avoid multiple votes from one person. It can easily be done electronically at your local library or post office. Computers work faster than manual counting. This system can easily be converted for general elections as well.

There are many other reforms that could be implemented but I hope that this will give people an idea.

well tryst, You and i have similar backgrounds! Between 1961 and 1971 i spent almost 7 years in the Far East as well! 5 of them at school in RAF Seletar! If memory serves me correctly you would have been at Sembawang Barracks? I come from a strong Services background my family being hardcore Royal Navy! My father was what we all call a spook! GCHQ!

I really rebelled at 14 and what a big deal it was! I refused to have my hair cut! PMSL i went 2 years and had hair down my back!

My work background is with the MoD 32.5 years last Saturday! Yes i've worked through 3 wars and an invasion too and what major brain ups i've seen! I was at one of the Naval Bases when shipswere returning from the Falklands I've known guys who were on Conqueror in 1983! I've moved from one end of the country to the other with days notice! I've lived in crap accomodation and wastage tell me about it!! a HR department with 2 clerks and 26 managers! Enough said cos big brother is watching LOL

If this was Asia this Govt wouldn't have got past it's 1st budget! The expenses scandal well they would be in Dartmoor doing 20 years! Hoodies and thugs would have to think twice! In Singapore the give 12 whacks with a cane for chewing Gum! murder and you hang dead simple! the answer if you can't do the time don't do the crime.

Democracy comes from the Greek Word Demos meaning FOR THE PEOPLE! proportional representation and more responsibility towards those you serve would be a nice 1st step!
