Not having love.

I would say most people don't do it because of the environment, but because they want to save money....which is not bad as it serves two purposes at the same time.

Even small things such as insulating your windows and doors (even if it is just with some insulating tape) does help a lot.

You can save lots of money just on some thermal insulation...(windows, doors, walls, roof).

You could also save money/energy by just reducing the pressure of your main water supply...

If I was not living in a flat I would try and use some solar cells on the roof...might be worth the additional costs in the long-term.

I wish all new houses were built with some form of renewable energy, instead most property developers still seem to just want to build cheap housing with maximum profit with just basic facilities. The houses and flats built where i live (built in year 2000-2004) have nothing like that, although it is a nice area. The greenest thing about these places is they will probably all have rotted away within 40 years Laughing

Hmm, don't think I really qualify to leave any sort of justification here having 2 cars that do about 6mpg each and already having 3 holidays booked this year that include flying, ah well, I'll leave all this being green to someone else Smile

I have ridden my bicycle everywhere i need to go for the last 30 odd years. I don't own a car and have had to ride more than 15 miles each way to get to work on many occasions. I use solar powered rechargeable batteries for all the things that need em. I recycle the papers i read and the bottles and jars i use.
I take quick 5 min military showers. I don't use a fridge or freezer and buy most of the stuff i need there and then. This makes having a dinner date a real pain if you know what i mean.
Despite these efforts i see the local council has their 1 and 2 kilowatt high pressure sodium suns on during the day. And not just one of them. The whole town is lit up during the day. I talked to one of the local guys replacing the bulbs and he says their is nothing that is going to be done about them as they have light sensors and wont replace them cause they break too often.
So can you see that i get a bit down sometimes about the state that our environment has gotten in when all i have done has been negated, and then some, by the local council.
