Quote:
n figures

$16bn
The amount the US spends on the monthly running costs of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan - on top of regular defence spending

$138
The amount paid by every US household every month towards the current operating costs of the war

$19.3bn
The amount Halliburton has received in single-source contracts for work in Iraq

$25bn
The annual cost to the US of the rising price of oil, itself a consequence of the war

$3 trillion
A conservative estimate of the true cost - to America alone - of Bush's Iraq adventure. The rest of the world, including Britain, will shoulder about the same amount again

$5bn
Cost of 10 days' fighting in Iraq

$1 trillion
The interest America will have paid by 2017 on the money borrowed to finance the war

3%
The average drop in income of 13 African countries - a direct result of the rise in oil prices. This drop has more than offset the recent increase in foreign aid to Africa

That sounds about right.
Whereas I don't support the war itself in Iraq or Afghanistan, I DO support the troops, regardless of what nationality they are, they are doing a tough job out there, and don't get the recognition they deserve for it either.
I never used to have any respect for people in the army (no more than anyone else I mean), but after reading loads of different articles on the net, along with some amazing camera footage not generally available over here, I have to say that they deserve every little bit of respect for the job they are doing, regardless of the reasons (which just happens to be beyond their control)

Winning wars is'nt cheap, however loosing is very expensive, in fact the price can be the highest there is, which is everything.

Iraq was right to do, how it was done however....well thats a different matter.
Afghanistan is....complicated, in fact it always was, but people have very selective memories about both countries and our involvement with them.

Africa is a mess, even some africans know it, as one radio DJ said "Britain ran Kenya with 50 white guys in batterd old Landrovers, now we have independance and thousands of NGO's is the latest air conditioned Suzikis"

That's right,if we give up and surrender like the Democrats want it will cost a lot more to have to go back in and win the war, like we should now that we are beginning to succeed let's finish the job,so we don't have to go back and spend a lot more.

It is costing so much because in Iraq and Afghanistan there were too few troops left in those countries after the fall of the old regimes there to stabilies those countries and recruit and retrain new security forces for those countries. If that had been done then all allied troops would have left Iraq and Afghanistan years ago.

As it is there are far too few troops to quickly reconstruct those countries and retrain new national security forces.

And McCain is smarter on national defense and the economy than that elitist idiot Oboma.

Vote for prosperity and security, vote for McCain.

Tbh, Defense should be a higher priority than Offense, it's all well and good being able to dish it out, but if someone desides to have a go back..
