It's good that the CAB helped you but their rules are out there, published on their official websites.

Hope you manage to get a good partnership going between you and your advisor. Remind him or her that you both should be focused on the task of allowing you to seek a job. Read up on the responsibilities of an advisor and remind the advisor of them.

Sorry but I simply cannot feel any sympathy for anyone who whinges that they cannot find work. I am simply not the most qualified or the brightest bulb around but due to tenacity and sheer pigheadedness have always found work. Admittedly not always work that I have desired but work nevertheless, sometimes at funny hours of the morning. Damn dad and mom and the work ethic. I would dearly love to laze around like some people I know. This is not what some people would like to hear I realize but please do not buy into their excuses. Sorry

i haven't had a job for quite a few months now. I suffer from M.E and i am Bi-polar. i don't expect you huys n gals to understand but its nigh impossible to always be job hunting. But i do send out cv's when i can. Plus this recession is also making it difficult as everyone is firing and not many are hiring.

It's difficult for people of all ages and abilities to get work in the current climate but if you have an added 'health' issue it's nigh on impossible to be taken on. Some kinds of essential medication will impede people's ability to be reliable enough for work.
Many employers will be turning down applicants due to their prejudices, but will know how to answer queries about why they didn't employ somebody that wouldn't reveal their prejudices, fact but probably hard to prove.

The hardcore jobless and the descendents of the aforementioned should be sterilised. We are the only species that understand evolution, we know the rules and we need to apply them.

How horribly predictable it is to hear the harshness and opinionated comments regarding unemployed here in this forum, we have some great comments here, i.e Kingstuart thinks we should sterilize unemployed people, well sir you better pray that that day never comes, your policy has a name to it, its known as EUGENICS, the last person to breath life into the concept of eugenics was ADOLF HITLER. nice one kingstuart.
This tendency for the employed population to stamp all over the unemployed is misguided and its just what the government wants, the fact that politiicans spent a billion pounds last year on their expenses alone seems to go completely un-noticed because everyone is to buisy barking at the the unemployed they dont even notice the real crime thats just taken place under their noses. the government that has just ensured that ever child born in britain is born with a £20.000 debt because of the propping up of their banker friends. the benefit system is their as a fundamental right to protect you in times of hardship as a british citizen, it is also a civilized alternative to allowing people to die of hunger and disease and all the horrible drug related problems associated with abject poverty, Dont foget the benefit system is there to protect you should things go wrong for you! dont be so quick to condemn it. If you really think people on benefit should be kicked off then dont be suprised when you return home from your precious job to find your home has been emptied by burglars who have nothing lose, its steal or starve when people reach that kind of desperation! I fell ill some time ago my employer reduced me to SSP Less than £300 a month! Try living on that! What was worse it was a massive screw up and i was entitled to Incapacity Benefits etc right from day 1, it took the DWP genius's 9 months to sortit out by which time i had lost my home and everything in it! I was supposedly fit enough to live on the street which i had to for 6 months! Don't laugh i have paid taxes and NI since the age of 16; i had less entitlement to help than some of the people i feel qualified to call wasters!I still have a job i am a professional civil servant of 33 years plus service!

I think you woll find a statement issued by the CEO of the DWP quite pertinent, she announced to the press that they weren't really equipped to deal with genuine job seekers! Just call into a job centre plus for help and advice and the staff just direct you to a phone or to try an 0845 number LOL they make money from them! You can never get hold of anyone when you do call! I can assure you that they are in breach of their service charter when they do this!

I had some "friends",turkish, here
one is working in management of councill housinng department
one is at health and safety department...
one is at some other department
and all their friends, live in councill flats,houses,overlooking at Canary Warf,their wifes are getting benefits for having a kids in industrial numbers
and in the same time, they open shops,restaurants,wile others are unemployed
they take advantage of the situation,offering the miserable salary of £10k/year for a PHP web designer as full time,becose nobody check on them
no guvernment agencies are protecting the Proletariat(even if this a labour governement)
It has been fixed a special min wage of £7/hour for the street cleaners. but there is no chek on W T F people are getting paid, now
and we are all so "happy" to aply for a toillet cleaner job paid at £5.40/hour(les than the min/economy).......and of course...
now,to get the same clener job you have to attach a "motivation letter" in wich,you have to explain to the employers:"why do you think you are the perfect person for that job"
mind the council flats with brand new 4x4 at the gate.they are the result of naivity of the ones aplying for a shamefull job,now.

My ex had experience of this last year. Being a Belgian national she didnt know how our system worked, I naively told her people would be there to explain and go through it with her at the job centre. She came home crying because nobody would help her, they just told her to use the phone and she didn't understand the terminology and accent of the person she spoke to on there who was very rude to her.

In this country you are a number, a statistic, all humane feeling is removed from the process and you are treated like shit. They expect you to put up and shut up because you are made to feel like a drain on the system. I have to say I was extremely embarrassed by the way they treated my ex at the time and I felt so bad at sending her along on her own afterwards, I made sure I went with her to every official thing after that.

A friend and I share a joke about how in London and in the inner cities everybody just seems to be waiting for you to get out of their way. It sums it up for me.
