Well, leaving him rotting away in a dark cell, forgotten about for the rest of his life probably would have been a more fitting way to deal with him in my opinion.

I mean, in the end, all that's happened is the Americans done to Saddam what he was charged of doing. Makes little sense to me in all honesty.

except it never would have ended. there would have been updates for the rest of eternity

It was up to the Iraqis as to what happened to him and they dealt with it how they felt was best.

thats not my point though, i dont have it on my conscience either, i just feel bad for those who do.

I disagree, we all have it on our concience. His death is through the actions of the bodies we elected. Without their earlier support he may not have been in the position to cause the atrocities for which he has been found guilty.

I personally take offense at the title of this thread too, it is a very regretful deed that has taken place. Rejoicing at vengence shows we have not really moved forward.

Oh well, I'll leave you all to your joy.

I am not rejoicing - in fact far from it - I actually felt quite sad about it - especially after seeing the films.

He faced his demise head on. (no pun intended) He understood what was being done to him and why. But no one deserves to feel that kind of fear.

(As you can tell I'm very torn on the matter.)

i cannot accept any responsibilty on the grounds that i voted the people in who made the choice to kill him as I dont yet have the vote at 17.

the problem is always compromise, how far to swing each way, there is never an answer to a problem which will solve it completely, and if in one persons eyes there is, someone else will inevitably disagree with them.

furthermore, no human is in any way perfect and our existence is one of farce and disappointment, in terms of morals anyway. endless hours could be spent debating what is morally wrong or right but it will not get anyone anywhere.

we're naturally flawed and so we all make mistakes, sometimes others pay for your mistakes and sometimes you pay for your own mistakes, in this case, he has paid for his own mistakes as well as countless thousands paying for his, it's all just part of human nature, just on a bigger scale than we are used to... hell we should be hanging bush, he's responsible for the murder of more people.

I somewhat agree with him be killed, it is after all up to the courts in Iraq and the death penalty is used there, as in the US and lots of countries.
However, it only creates a martyr of him. In 10 years time Saddam's crimes will be hazy while he will still be "the leader dethroned and killed by the forces of occupation".
