Because prisons are over crowded, so instead of making more they just give people like rapists shorter sentences to ease the problem...

Why not just stick them in a room with a bunch of drunken crazed women and see how long they last????

pity.... any fucker that attempts rape deserves something like this.

So then he gets angry and flies into a rage?

Just wondering - would women wear these on a daily basis? You cant say 'today I think bad stuff is going to happen so I ll take precautions in case it does, tomorrow it wont happen so I wont'.

Im thinking that they would be effective if most women wore them most of the time, but in reality, some women would wear them some of the time I think and so the deterrent wouldnt be so great.

aparently they are comfortable enough to be worn everyday... but like you said, it doesn't mean that they will.

I dunno, Even if they mangle just one rapist then ill still consider it a worthy invention.

Yes, it would be worthwhile, but then you could say that the women carrying a small pistol and one shooting his balls off might be a worthwhile tool too (easier to remember - keep it in a handbag thet you use everyday?)

well there's a funny thing in the FAQ section that was posted.

Its not listed as an offensive weapon. whereas a pistol would be. Besides a pistol could be used on her...

i know there's situations and what if scenarios but i have to admit i kinda like the idea.

It does have a cruel sort of natural justice about it certainly

That's a tough one. For the average woman in a developed country, I'd say no way, but considering the horrific crimes that happen on a daily basis in Africa, it seems like it would be an effective alternative. Its sad that these women are under such desperate situations, but when you fear going out of your home just to provide the bare essentials for your family because of rape, it changes the circumstances. Desperate times call for desperate acts. The only problem I foresee is what was stated in one of the articles about the women being killed by their angry attackers.

And your point is??? What on earth has a video on violence in Belfast got to do with an anti rape device. Sorry but all rapists should have their bits cut off if proved and convicted rather than their cushy prison sentances. Or stick them in a room with a bunch of women. Thats my opinion and im sticking to it

I think any device that makes someone feel safer or acts as a deterrent against rape has to be worth considering.

Being raped destroys lives, and even when victims think they've got over it, their unconsious actions proove otherwise.

Unpleasant memories of rape can be triggered 'out of the blue' from the senses it could be a smell, an object, taste anything really and that is where it can affect someones feelings, yet they may not know why they are feeling anxious as it might only have registered in the unconscious due to the memories being too unbearable.

Many victims discover that the people around them, like significant others also cannot deal with the fact that someone else has abused their partner and both relationships and personalities frequently change, but more significantly they can never forget.

Rape victims can learn to be survivors and regain control over their lives, some even forgive, but to get to that stage many have attempted suicide, become prostitutes (no longer having respect for their body-issues) regularly self-injure and have lost all the trust they ever had.

Apart from the people I heave worked with over the years, in my personal life I have known several people who have been raped and I guess many people reading this will say the same.

One other thought, there are many men who have been raped and I know this happens far more than people generally think, because men are even less likely to report it than women, so maybe there should be something for them too. Question

i just did some research on this,

when raoex is "Activated" the barbs get stuck, and the device has to be surgically removed.

i think it's a great idea, and believe me, no guy would have the power to beat up a woman with one of those things attached to their member.

reminds me of that old joke:

Q: What do ou call a vagina with teeth??
A: REVENGE!!!!!!!!!
