Found an article on Teamtalk today Baggiebhoy ( I am sure you are reading this) about how West Brom should not sign big names anymore. And myself along with a lot of west brom fans on that site think it's a good thing.

Like wolves for many years, west brom has been filled with overpaid, overhyped superstars, and it really has got them no where. They are the YoYo club it seems.
They (Like wolves did) have allowed themselves to be told what to do by these superstars, and have struggled.
Wolves have learnt their lesson since magic MM came in, and although as was stated in a previous thread, there is not one player who could walk into the west brom team from wolves, i do believe we have more hungar than the albion (no offence). We now have a young, talented, hungry team. with the likes of keogh, eastwood, knightly, murray, hennesey, boythroyd, davies to name a few who will cause havoc in the championship this year.
And now west brom seem to be going down the same route.
The academy there has improved (although it is still widely regarded that wolves have the best in the league) and is producing some young talent, and this is a good thing.
I wish all the best to West Brom in this current season. But I do believe it will be a struggle. Davies has been stripped off his captaincy, and it still looks like there is some unrest in the club. But that is to be expected, the superstars are again demanding to have there say in the club.

Good for West brom in seeing this....even if they did have to copy our path....and BTW i am not saying we led the way in this....we did copy others, otherwise we wouldn't have been in the mess we were.

What do you think?

When I read the title, I thougth we were going to get into a slanging match, but I agree with you whole-heartedly.

Bryan Robson was the man who really sorted out our academy, and we now have a man in charge (Tony Mowbray) who has a track record of bringing young talent through and forming them into a team that can play some great attacking football. Although I don't think we are going down this route simply because it worked for TM before.

Jeremy Peace, our chairman, is as tight as a knats arsehole. We have just received neraly eleven and a half million pounds for two players, but the team will not see the benefit. We have an estimated £25 million sat in the bank, but Peace will not spend it.

This is going to be a season of struggle for both teams. Wolves will have a certain level of expectancy back after last years surprise success, while our fans expect to be there at the end of the season. But to say no member of the Wolves team would get in Albions? Matt Murray would. And probably Eastwood too.

But we have some good youngsters coming through, many of them playing a part pre-season, and it could be a good season, at least from an entertainment point of view. Keep an eye out for our young players: Jared Hogdkiss, David Worrell, and Michael Nardiello.

exactly, it worked for us, and there is no reason it won't work for you.
What is the main problem for you guys, just like us is the fans.

There will be a hardcore amount of fans who will demand the megastars adn will not welcome the unknowns. We have the same problem as the wolves.
The amount of people who complained when we signed Kightly was unreal, and look what a diamond he has turned out to be.

Splashing out on big name, expensive signings or aging players that used to be good but are simply looking for a last pay day is, in my opinion, why we (Forest) eventually ended up in League One.

If we signed lesser known, hungry players from the lower leagues or players that are eager to prove a point, aswell as using more of the youngsters (the only time we relied on them heavily was when we finished 6th in what is now the Championship!), we might not of ended up here.

I like Mick McCarthy, knows the Championship like the back of his hand.
Signing the likes of Whitehead and Lawrence from the lower leagues played a part in getting Sunderland promoted under him, looks like he is doing something similar with Wolves (Kightly, Keogh, Jarvis, etc), Eastwood is a quality signing too.

More clubs (including Forest) should follow this path, in my opinion.

I feel I should just mention that Watford have reclaimed their rightful place at the top of the Championship Smile
