I love the champions league it still for me is the most exciting competition to watch when United are playing.

I'm currently debating whether to get a ticket for the Celtic game!

The greatest football club competition in the world, or a cabal of the elite designed to reinforce their own dominance of football?

I would say both - and it's usually torture for me to endure, given my team Rolling Eyes

Personally I'd like to see it scrapped and go back just having Champions, like the olden days . Has ruined domestic footie, and makes teams go into debt [not Spurs at the moment ].

Probably devalued it a bit when Liverpool won it, but good luck to them.

Now they are talking about excluding clubs that are in debt, that would probably mean most of the premiership...except Spurs But they are probably worried because we are starting to dominate it again. Kicked us out last time we did that.

It is exactly because we're dominating it that they're talking about bringing in these rules. The thing is, though most english clubs have bigger paper debts than the foreign clubs, they also have more assets. Mostly we own our own stadiums and training grounds, whereas most foreign teams (Spanish Especially) have in the past sold theirs off to local authorities and rent them back. If they bring in that rule, I think all clubs that participate having to own their own stadiums should be brought in too.

Platini and Blatter hate the English, it's just one of many rules they're thinking about proposing that will damage the Premier league, but will leave other leagues alone.

That was called football last night!!!
Semi final more like intertoto cup...
And does anyone else have the opinion that Chelsea's goalie isn't all that.
The commentator and the papers say he is world class...Come off it.
He didn't deal with at least 2 crosses, goal kicks like my dead cats and gave away an unnessessary corner. Now if thats world class bring back the german idiot for Arsenal.

Who's in favour of it being called the European Cup as it was originally? I'm a Man U fan and when we won it in '99 we weren't in it as league champions. It's a cup competition played by Europe's elite so I think the original 'European Cup' name is far more fitting!

i think the champions league consistently has the highest quality football on show, apart from some token dodgy teams from places like the ukraine your guaranteed to see teams of a pretty high calibre, if im being honest your more likely to see good games watching the CL than the euros or the world cup as club sides have the chance to build up an understanding over a few seasons but national teams have a couple of weeks a year to create an understanding between the players!
