Running is like an addiction. When I'm out driving and I pass people who are running and I always think 'I should be out running!'. |
I feel like that too

I know it's a bit random, but I always used to point them out to the people with me in the car and say 'that's my hero!' Lol. Non-running types just don't understand

Must confess before I was a runner I used to see people out running in all weather and think 'they must be mad'.
Now I think nothing of being out in pouring rain for 2 hours because you just get to a point when you cant get any wetter and you dont even notice it anymore !

Snap, though I am a bit of a wuss when it comes to training runs and rain and cold. Ive got a gym membership where there is music, heating, water on tap, ladies walking past, tvs, a pool and jacuzzi. Then Ill go out in the middle of december and run and stand outside in t shirt and shorts for 1 1/2 hours waiting for a friend to finish (he got a lift home and was beck before me!). Oh, I had gloves on in case I got cold.
Hows it going for the weekend missme?

Not bad (I think !). I've done as much as I can now so I'm tapering at the moment and trying not to get too nervous
You found anymore good races? This one might interest you as you like a challenge http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/events/viewevent.asp?sp=&v=2&EN=34074

I would go for that one, good training run... but I am doing a half marathonthe next day round Silverstone so could be a little sore. Mind I am running with a friend who wants to crack the 2 hour mark so would be just a jog (just bragging there, though the other weekends PB was an exception by about 4 minutes!). Hmmm what to do.
I'm going to enter a couple of cross country races this year for fun to take me off the roads and a change of scenery (look up Hellrunner - search on saab in runners world), and might do one round a forest in the lakes. Are there any good runs near Cardiff? Apart from the half marathon?
Tonight Im going to have a lazy night, last night I did 2 mins on the treadmill and my shoulder startewd hurting (dont know how that happened) and its still sore today, might just have a sit in the steam room for an hour.
Still having an easy week missme? I wonder that if you stopped running at all then by the weekend you will be desperate to get out that the first few miles will fly by. (The first one doesnt count though - you are too busy avoiding people to run, so its only really 12 miles!)
06.03.2007, 17:54 quote
Well I'm taking it easy compared to other weeks but not totally stagnating. I did a fast, hilly 3 miles yesterday and tomorrow I will do circuit training. Friday probably another short run then rest on Saturday and drink loads of fluids
Sorry to hear about your shoulder, hope it's nothing serious.
The next run I've booked after my half is this http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/events/viewevent.asp?sp=&v=2&EN=35141
It's a 10k around the grounds of a castle and apparently it's a really nice run. It's about 15 miles from Cardiff I think.
If you like forest trails then there's this on the same date http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/events/viewevent.asp?sp=&v=2&EN=34734
It would be about an hour from Cardiff. I haven't entered that one, it was a toss up between that and the one I'm doing this weekend.
I'm also down for this one which is right in Cardiff city centre and around the bay

Now there is an incentive at the castle one - Cash prizes to first 20 men, and first 5 women! Wonder why more men prizes?
Think Ill have to go really fast! Dont know - would you recommend it?
For the other 2 Ill read them properly later.
I try to stop the week before - monday Im full of good intentions then tuesday I forget and go back to normal practising.
Oh, PB the other weekend, so you have a challenge now by the way
Shoulder is easing off as the day goes on so not too bad now. Why do we get injured?
06.03.2007, 19:56 quote
Yeah go for the castle one, cash is always a good incentive !
What time we talking for the pb then? Was it your half mara?

I think Ill book up for the castle one, could be fun.
I wasnt going to say times because its fast - 1:24:07 for the half (I always manage to get just a few seconds the wrong side of a minute, silly but 59:59 sounds better that 60:01).
What about you?

You'll wait at the end for me to catch up?

You'll probably lap me !!
07.03.2007, 22:22 quote
You cant be that bad, Ive only ever lapped about 10 people ever, and they had more wind resistance to worry about than you. However, for a fit slim person to enter a race is nothing, for a large person I think it takes some guts to enter a race so all credit to them.

No I'm not that bad but you are much faster than me and with a cash prize up for grabs I probably wont see you for dust
