Looks like they've parted company with Keegan the day after the transfer window closes. That'll make it all the more attractive a job to fill. Rolling Eyes

Or is Wise set to move into the hotseat?

...and it emerges they might have sacked him.

Mike Ashley what the hell are you doing? I doubt he'll be safe in the away end anymore.

And now it emerges that they haven't? Confused

Truly baffling.

Newcastle United manager Kevin Keegan's future remains uncertain following protracted talks with the club's board.

BBC Sport understands Keegan had left the club, but late on Tuesday Newcastle issued a statement insisting the 57-year-old had not been sacked.

But in a statement, the club said: "Kevin has raised a number of issues.

"We'd like to stress Kevin is extremely important both now and in the future and want him to continue to play an instrumental role as manager."

They are some set of plonkers...Wise has been hanging around waiting for that job. Though it is very Keegan-esque to just walk off

I told you Keegan would walk before Christmas.

I am so good. Wink

So he hasn't been sacked, and hasn't quit either apparently. Yet anyway.

Quote:
"Newcastle Football Club and its fans are massively important to Kevin," said LMA chief executive Richard Bevan.

Bevan revealed he had spoken at length to Keegan, 57, on Tuesday evening.

"He has not resigned, he's in a difficult position and he'll be discussing important issues with the Newcastle board over the next few days," Bevan told BBC Radio 5 Live.

BBC Sport understands Keegan had at one stage left the club, although Newcastle issued a statement later on Monday, insisting he was still their manager.

"Newcastle United can confirm that meetings between members of the board and manager Kevin Keegan were held both yesterday (Monday) and today (Tuesday),"

"Kevin has raised a number of issues and those have been discussed with him.

"The club wants to keep progressing with its long-term strategy and would like to stress that Kevin is extremely important, both now and in the future.

"Newcastle United values the effort and commitment shown by Kevin since his return to St James' Park and wants him to continue to play an instrumental role as manager of the club.

"For the avoidance of doubt, the club has not sacked Kevin Keegan as manager."

They are always good for a laugh, just as well for them that it's a break for international games.

As usual Keegan is the victim of his self inflated ego - what has he actually done as a manager at club or international level?
