I ran up the white flag some time ago.

Box to box we're great, but we can't defend or kill teams off when we have the chance. We haven't got enough experience or determination.

WBA problem is not the profligate strikers, It was the noble Mowbray's 'attempt' to play the season with no goalscorers up front or in midfeild. Like some bizarre handicap.

Kevin Phillips was a big loss. It was him who made Ishmael Miller and Roman Bednar better players.

The midfield chipped in with some goals last season, Koren getting double figures, Brunt/Morrison not far off. We miss Gera though, and needed a holding midfielder. Too many times we have been wide open.

Back to Newcastle...Alan Shearer was a hero of mine when I was younger, to the extent of having a Newcastle shirt with 'Shearer 9' on the back even though I had a Baggies season ticket. I hope he can revitalise Newcastle, and stabilise them. I doubt he can bring them the success they truely want though.

Not looking good for West Brom, as the games are running out. But a lot of clubs have been down there and escaped this year, its been the most open league I've ever known. That includes all Divisions and including the second Division.

All any team has to do is put a few wins together.

I've got mixed feelings about Newcastle now. Like to see them relegated, but would like to see Shearer do well.

Newcastle have been asking for this for sometime - the fans and boards ambitions need to be more realistic - their club altho big in terms of fan base doesnt have the rich history that a man utd/liverpool or even arsenal/everton or spurs have - maybe relegation will finally help them wake up - a team thats so lacking pace in midfield as they are will NEVER survive

lol the Toon are staying up, the game against Boro was always going to be the decider, Hull won't win or even draw there final two, I think we'll beta Villa, Fulham maybe not.

But Taylor what a LEGENED... what a goal, I told my mate (a Smoggy HAHA) that would be the goal that keeps us up and alas I think I may just be right. It was nice to see Duff playing so bloody well an' all he had a storming game and once again Harper what a god he is I think he'll slowly become better than (dare I say it) Given...

Can't see Villa losing tbh, mind you a draw could be enough if Hull continue their dismal run and that seems likely despite the likely weakened team they will face.

Even though he's a keeper and will play on a while yet can't see Harper improving much now, at 34 surely he's learnt all he will.

Well Hull lose to a seriously weak manc team, but Newcastle fail to get the draw they need and go down regardless.

Wonder how many of the team will stay, bet Owen is packed already.

They should all stay (provided Newcastle actually want them) and dig the club out of the hole that they put it in.

Meanwhile, in the real world...

Owen, Martins, Viduka, Bassong and Collocini, maybe Nolan, will all jump ship.

Butt, Duff and some others will probably be pushed before they jump.

Steven Taylor won't want to go, but will do 'for the sake of his career', i.e. Man City will pay me shitloads of cash.

Most of whats left I can't see anybody actually wanting, tbh.

I honestly think that the championship 1-2 will be Albion and Middlesbrough next season, with Newcastle likely to implode, especially if Shearer does leave.

I honestly don't think any of them will bounce back next season. Unless they make some very good signings.

I think Newcastle would do better if Shearer did leave, don't think he can turn them around. Trouble is who can they get in the second division.

Bye, bye Newcastle!

Seriously had it coming for some time.

Lets see if they can come back up again if they say they are so great.

So it begins...

The odds for next season have Newcastle favourites to go up, and as champions.

Albion are next favourites, with Boro third.

What a shock.

Depends how much cash they splash to try really, that and the Championship is pretty weak.

As for West Brom, depends on if they keep their manager too.

Strachan to Newcastle? Be funnier if he swapped places with Mowbray though.
