Michael owen was still good though. And still is, in his own respective right.

As for Torres, yeah you should sell him if your having financial troubles..if not no, he'll score goals. He just had a bad world cup, and after a bad world cup no ones going to be wanting to put in a 30-40M offer for him.

Instead they'd be looking at diego forlan, sneijder, the whole of the german squad, david villa and obviously they wouldnt target sergio ramos because they wouldnt be able to out-pay madrid.

The reason we got sod all for him was solely down to him running down his contract, Newcastle paid more for him the season after despite him not playing all that much at Madrid.

Just think what we might have achieved with Owen in 05 and 06 seasons.

Can they get any better?

I think Liverpool might have to come down to earth and realise where they are at the moment. They were maybe fortunate to finsih in the top 8 last season, and not sure that will be improved on next season.

They wont offload Torris and acquire another world class player while they arent in the champs league. They might have to start looking at second class players, or might be embarrassed as Tottenham were during our 'nearly signed' player times

Without CL I think we'll manage better in the league.

I know we'll be above Spurs next season, midtable at best if they make the group stages of the CL. Man City are a worry.

I don’t think you will, especially if you lose Gerrard and Torres. I'm not worried about Man City, they spend a lot of money on not much more then average players.

What I am specifically talking about is acquiring players, and not being in CL will make top class players think twice about going to Liverpool.

I cant see why we wont finish top four again. We lacked a lot of belief last year, and probably dropped some points because of it. I think we will be better this coming season Very Happy

Thats what they said last season Wink

Rafa telling everyone 'Liverpool will finish 4th', was reminiscent of Blair clutching at straws about Sadam's weapons of mass destruction

I really don't think you should underestimate how good a season you had last time.

I'm not, Spurs was definitely underestimated last season. Even behind Man City..which was puzzling as they haven't won anything for about 40 years.

But its a new season, and we shall see.

Will Liverpool finish above Everton??

Definitely.

I'd place City above you this year, might not have won anything in a long time, but your cabinet is hardly constantly growing. If we go on that basis Pompey should have been in with a shout of top 4 last season.

Not being in the CL is in their favour for a good league finish, it takes a lot out of a team. Silva is a great signing, wonder if Robhinho will come back though.

See the thread starter has left. Bye Mark.

Nope..Pompey will never finish top four, But I knew Spurs would one day.

Have to wait and see if the fans of City have the desire to push them on

I'm not convinced about the players City have bought..as I said to a City fan on another site last season. They are hardly in the class of players Chelsea bought, but they were already a top four team.

In saying that..I'd rather see them win the league then the goons...but I cant see it.

How long will the give their manager?
