Oldham atheltic should be ashamed of themselves. This is one man who should NEVER EVER play football again!
He has "publicaly" said sorry for his actions, but that will not bring back Douglas Graham, it will not bring a father to the two children and a husand to the wife he left behind.
I don't EVER say this, as I have always believed fans should get behind their team 100% no matter what....but LEE HUGHES SHOULD BE BOOED EVERYTIME HE GETS THE BALL, by his fans and the opposition.
This man should never be allowed to work in the spotlight again.....if you think I'm being harsh then so be it.....but he should be banned forever.....

He is not a murderer, it was an accident. If he hadn't run away, he would probably have only got three years anyway.

He has missed what should have been the peak of his career. He will never play for the club he has supported since childhood, WBA, again. His wife has cheated on him, possibly several times. He was a broken man, and he is full of remorse for his actions. Lee Hughes may be stupid, but he is not evil. He never intended to hurt or kill anybody, and has taken steps to try and make ammends. While it will not bring Douglas Graham back, he is not a coldblooded killer, yet everybody seems to be out to make him into one.

If somebody came out of prison, having shown remorce and repentance, and returned to work, at a smaller, less successful company, nobody would kick up a fuss about it. At the end of the day, to the players, football is just a job. Hughes is skilled in one area, but because it is in the public eye, everybody is going to vilify him and Oldham Athletic.

He is out because he behaved well in prison, and the justice system makes allowances for that. He has another job where thousands of ex-cons come out to no work, no prospects, and no hope.

He made a mistake. He has served what the law requires. He has shown he is sorry for his actions. Let him get on with his life.

sorry but no....i know it is a touchy thing for you, and no offence on it. BUT the simple fact of the matter is, he RAN AWAY! and as a role model which he is supposed to be he souldn't have done that. He is guilty, and Oldham should never have signed him as soon as he was released. That is my opinion on the matter.

It is not a touchy thing for me. I never gave a shit about Lee Hughes, apart from what he did for the team.

Everybody knows he ran away, and everybody knows he shouldn't have done it. He was found guilty, that is a matter of fact.

He should have served the full sentance. But he didn't. He's out, and the law says he should be allowed to get on with his life. If your not happy about that, take it out by complaining about the legal system that isn't strict enough, not the man who made a mistake, and will already pay for it the rest of his life.

i get where your coming from, he's done the crime, and he's paid the time. But football....no matter what club AUTOMATICALLY puts him in the spotlight. And I think he should have thought about it before making such a PUBLIC return.....for me, he should have just slipped away quietly, and got on with something else, something that is less public, that is all I am saying.

He was a roofer playing part time with Kidderminster before the Albion signed him. That do you?

He'll do nothing for Oldham anyway after so long out of the game and the shed loads of abuse he'll get from fans at every game he goes too.
