Lost. Beaten after 54 seconds.

Quite sad really, just when a British sportsman appears to be doing well...

He got knocked out as soon as he stepped in with a bloke with a bit of class and a decent punch, exactly what I've always said would happen eventually. Khan's got fairly good boxing skills but he's got a glass jaw worse than Frank Bruno's, can't take even one decent shot. Will never be true world class.

I can't believe you are all laughing at him. You've probably all been waiting for him to come a cropper (we know for a fact Moose has). Thats a pretty pathetic way of thinking about one of this countrys most talented young sportsmen.

My point is, he's not one of the country's most talented sportsmen. He's a fairly competent boxer with some good skills but a glass jaw and a severe lack of class. Anything above that has never been anything more than hype. He's been knocking over a procession of bums that my old granny could have beaten with one hand tied behind her back.

He's only fought two opponents previously with anything approaching a decent punch - Michael Gomez and that little Scottish bloke, Willie something or other. Both put him on his arse.

This is what happens when you fight a load of muppets and start to believe your own hype - eventually you have to step into the ring with a bit of class, and you get your arse handed to you on a plate.

I don't care. You should still want him to win.

I think the England football team are crap, but I'm never watching them waiting for them to lose. I still want them to win every game, and I want Amir Khan to win every fight, and Lewis Hamilton to win every race (even if he has fucked off to Switzerland).

And even given the criticism above, what I said still stands. (Though the lack of sporting talent coming from this country, in spite of recent olympic successes, is another debate for another time).

and any of them would give any of us a proper kicking really so we shouldn't mock

but Amir......oh dear.....

thats like (now bear in mind i know nothing about football here) the England football team going out against er...Andorra?.. and conceding 4 goals in the first 10 minutes then settling for no worse than that

or Lewis getting pole position only to get bogged down off the line and watch all the other cars sail past him, then having his engine let go

Why should I? I appreciate the skills of great boxers. If I consider someone great, I will want them to win. If I consider someone an over-hyped fraud, then fuck them.

Khan went down like a sack of shit.

well said.

As much as I respect Khan for what appears to be an ability to cross the cultural and ethnic divides, and to show good sportsmanship, and being patriotic by always flying the Union Flag, etc etc....

....that was just embarrassing.

Maybe he should've stayed amatuer for another 4 years and got us the Gold in the Olympics '08.

I felt sorry for Khan, because something like that has to be embarrasing.

I dont follow boxing that much, ( I will watch Clazhage (sp) fight) but the poor fucker really did hit the deck like a ton of cement.

It sucks that he lost, but even i could see from watching it he does have a glass jaw, and his standard of fighting isnt good enough to be at the level he is at.

But thats my batshit opinion on something I know very little about.

Every boxer hypes themselves up. Its what they do. The problem was that the media hyped him up as well.

Fact is, he is a young man who has the guts to get in the ring, works hard to be the best at what he does, and no matter his ability levels, is proud to represent this country. And after suffering a bad loss, he wants to work harder, get better, and get over it. Those are admirable qualities, and yet a lot of people in this country love people with an ounce of ambition to fail.
