Lately I have been feeling very alone. It's probably my circumstances, which I'm not complaining about, but they are "unique", for lack of a better word.

Can anyone relate? I am trying to start making friends in the gay community but am having such a rough time at it. Suggestions??? Here's my life in a nutshell...

I am a single (divorced for 13 yrs) mother of 3. My oldest lives with my ex-husband and the 2 younger ones are with me. My son is 13 and my daughter is 11yr old. My daughter has Cerebral Palsy (fairly minor) and is wheelchair bound. I have had breast cancer and now have soft tissue sarcoma in my hip and am having chemotherapy treatments at this time...and...I'm a lesbien who has just recently "come out" to a few people (mostly friends, no family). Embarassed

I can relate to the single parent part of things, even more so as my 2 youngest live with their dad and I can kind of relate to having a child with disabilities (of sorts). My eldest has OCD, my oldest boy is diabetic and my youngest daughter is being tested for epilepsy after a number of 'episodes'.

It's not easy at the best of times, but you now have the added strain of 'coming out' and the possible prejudices. All I can advice here is what my little brother did when he 'came out'. Be yourself!! Most prejudice is born of ignorance. Any friends and family worth their salt will not only be understanding, but will treat you just as they always have, any that don't, weren't true friends to start with.

I hope all go's well for you Lizzie Very Happy

And welcome to the boards
