Many years ago, I lived next door to a little old lady and one night I heard muffled, moaning noises from next door. My girlfriend and I decided it sounded like the old girl was being raped, so I 'phoned the police. We had what appeared to be Body and Doyle coming through the house, jumping over the back fence and whispering into their radios, "We're in position". The place was swarming with cops!
It turned out that the woman's son was staying with his girlfriend. We didn't even know she had a son!
Next morning he appeared sheepishly at the front door and thanked us for looking out for his mum.
He had his girlfriend over often after that, and safe in the knowledge that little old lady was OK, the rather enthusiastic noises from next door seemed to spur my g/f and myself into action!
