The Other Man's Shoes
To see things how the other man views,
We’re told to walk a mile in his shoes.
That’s the advice of all the sages,
‘Walk in the other man’s shoes!’
Given to us throughout the ages.
If after you’ve walked your long, lone mile,
And considered his views for a while,
You still find you cannot agree,
At least you’re more than a mile away,
And you’ll have his shoes for free!

wearing someone else's shoes ,and walking for a mile,
gonna irritate my corns,an' hardly bring a smile,
although i get a different view, one altered from my own,
i fear i will still be segregated, i'll still be all alone.
no matter how many sides i see, opposing points of view,
i'm always left felling saddened, always feeling blue,
so i guess ill just keep walking, end up further than before,
if i had my own damn shoes to wear, me feet would not be sore!

Y'know, I was so moved by thinking of being in another man's shoes, I'm going right down to my local Oxfam store for a rummage around for a pair...

Ah, it's not just a mans shoes that you must fill,
But a woman's high heels, and walking uphill,
Not so easy for a man to do,
Just try to slip on my shoe!
And wear it gladly while cooking dinner,
While working out to look thinner,
To keep that man that's in his shoe,
That's what a woman has to do!
So, let's not tarry any longer,
Without his shoes I have grown stronger,
No longer in need of his company,
Wearing my shoes as a woman who's free!
Tada!

Just realised: we're all assuming everyone reading this has 2 feet. We'll have to beef up the poetry to include walking a mile in another man's shoe...

another mans glove..
well i have to hand it to you,
that question you have brought,
the gauntlet has been thrown,
an answer must be sought.
to wear anothers glove,
be it leather, silk or wool,
the problems it may bring,
and exceptions to the rule..
one thing dwells upon my mind,
and answers .. i am failing...
why is there always one glove left,
impaled upon the railing?
who does it belong to,
and why did he leave it there,
and why does it bother me so,
why should i even care?

It was the fire investigator's, out of the movie 'Backdraft' - when that house exploded and he got impaled on the garden railings...!
