i haven't written a poem in what seems like an age,
so tonight i'm doing battle with an empty page,
cold and sterile, not helpful at all,
blinding white paper, resisting my scrawl,
pen in my grasp like a rapier blade,
thesaurus and dictionary, the light brigade.

The pen is mightier than the sword, however what if we scribe straight to screen via keyboard ? Laughing

"The keyboard is mightier than the sword!" Much better, 'Pen' was just a mere placeholder, didn't even rhyme!

I was thinking more along the lines of

"The keyboard is louder than the mighty pen"

Not sure where that leaves the sword

The Parker is mightier than the Rapier (almost rhymes)... and then there's this one which almost does as well: The Sheaffer is mightier than the Saber (what a sad typological life I must lead!!!!)

if the blade be steel, and sharp as wit,
it all then lies on what you do with it,
a keyboard can be a mighty tool,
but useless in the hands of fools,
the tongue is sharp, and words penetrate,
a speech can make anyone seem great,
the scribe with knowledge of prose therefore,
the real knights and warriors of folklore?

Instead of a lump in the throat, can a lump in one's pants also motivate poetry...?!
