Imagine…

In my favourite armchair,
Where the cat lies on my knee,
He is comfortable there,
And he purrs away to me.
Purring and my breathing pair:
He is purring noisily,
And strangely I am aware,
That each purr makes sense to me!

All feline secrets I share:
Why cats chase mouse, not the bee.
Because they can’t fly! I swear!
Well, that’s what my cat tells me.
Other things he tells me there,
The Sphinx riddle. I’ve the key.
All our problems solved with flair,
The answers purred out with glee.

War and want, there’ll be ne’er,
Of poverty we’ll be free.
The Earth we can repair,
And heal the land and sea.
Beyond the stars we will dare,
Is it not man’s destiny?
I’ll write all this down to share,
But then – Drat! – the cat wakes me.

(I've started a poetry class and this is homework. )
