02.07.2008, 00:38 quote
Inside this box of memories
Of dreams, of hopes, of fears
Is another box of emptiness
Of doubts, of grief, of tears
And in that box another one
Filled only with despairs
Wrapped in all the pain and guilt
That grows throughout the years
In the corner of this box
Is a little child lost
No friends, No hope, No family
A child thrown and tossed
The box holds a secret
If only the child knew
Inside this box is the key
To the child's true virtue
Within the box a labyrinth
A puzzle to be solved
The child can't find the answer
Until the child has been absolved
Misplaced within this box
Is the innocence of youth
Only when it's found
Will the child know the truth
The box is full of twists
Of turns, of slopes, of curves
Can you help the child through?
To reach the future he deserves
The box has many layers
Many still untold
It's up to you to find them
Help the child through the cold.

1st in my Child In A Box series. Will post the rest if anybody is interested. Comments/criticism welcome.

Great poetry, you should keep posting them.
Strange, reading that took me right back to my training days in Art Therapy that I hadn't thought about for a long while. Boxes, and containers generally, always have a lot of significance and sybolism in therapy, and so that's what I was thinking about, the time in Group Art Therapy Sessions creating The Self Boxes.I can't even remember what mine looked like now, but I do remember some other people had their 'child' in the box.

Thanks for the kind words. I'll post one a day until I run out, or until people get bored.

I like your work, especially the way in which there are boxes inside boxes. It makes me think of the many facets of a person's personality.
I've got a poem I wrote for my last boyfriend. It had a child reference in it. I'll have to dig it up - no way as good as yours though.

Cheers.
This has always been my favourite in the series.
Link me if you find yours.

Oh I meant to ask if you created the picture for it too? I think it goes so well.

I didn't. It's just one of the images I had stored on a poetry site I frequent, thought it suited the poem.
