I sing the body electric.
Of love and the galvanic charge.
I sing of the synapses of the brain;
The spark of an idea in the mind;
The speed of the nerve impulse;
The twitch of the muscles;
The firing sequence of the heart,
And how it can all just stop.

I sing of the fluidity of man,
The blood and the sweat,
I sing of the snot and the tears.
And how we need them,
In the pain and sadness.
That life sometimes brings,
When the heart just stops,
And the blood no longer sings.

I sing of the trillions of neutrinos,
Passing thru the Earth on their way,
Out into the vastness of space.
I sing of just one neutrino,
Passing through the stopped heart,
Taking a single particle of love,
Out into the infinite universe,
And lighting up the darkness beyond.

(apologies to Walt Whitman)
