I'm a metal fan, Metal of the heavy kind not wanky metal; stuff like Metallica, Pantera, The Melvins, Converge, Mastodon, Poison the well, Architects(and no I do not like their hair, thank you very much!), Torche, Dillinger escape plan(excellent!), Boris, Fantomas, Deftones(not a nu-metal band, by the way); I suppose its more the Thrash/Metalcore/Hardcore/alternative end of things, so I suppose I dont like either black or death metal, thats for sure.

What most heathens do not realise about metal.

1. They write their own songs and tunes.
2. They play their own instruments.
3. They play variations of notes and melodies on their instruments to spectacular effect..
4. Most have gone through Uni.
5. A large amount are classically trained.
6. They make an obscene amount of money with their gift. (Ozzy alone makes £20m per year just touring with Ozfest in the US.)

Do not think of it as noise, sit down and listen to it. Pick out each instrument as they play to know the depth of knowledge that as gone into their work.

That is enough ranting now.

I listen to pretty much all kinds of rock and metal. Still listen to Whitesnake, Def Leppard and Bon Jovi, through to extreme Death and Black Metal. Bands like Anaal Nathrakh, Deicide, Carcass and Cannibal Corpse.
I tend to stick somewhere in the middle mostly but preferring the Doomier side of things, like Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride and Katatonia.

I'm also at the London Slayer gig. It's going to be messy! \m/

Im a metalhead myself... Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth, but i also love love LOVE 80s stuff... Motley Crue, Whitesnake, Extreme, Mr. Big, Racer X, older Steve Vai stuff... it's all good

i also wish i could find a nice metal chick, but Rock city is full of posers that stand around in little groups seeing who can get the most people looking at them, so it seems.

Then derby is absolute shite, rockhouse, and mosh... the kind of place where the "metal" room plays stuff like Blink 182, get my drift?

Like a needle in a haystack lol

Metal, in my opinion, is the way forward Smile Recently my taste has taken a turn for more technical styles, like Born Of Osiris, Architects, Miisery Signals, August Burns Red, Lamb Of God.. but i still love 80's and 90's metal, aswell as most other genres... Black and Death seem a little dated to me... since most black or death metal bands out there at the moment, do , at first hearing, appear to be playing pretty much the same chord progressions and appregios etc.. but yeah its still far more interesting to listen to than some american bloke spitting words down a mic so fast you struggle to understand what he's blathering on about..
