You might have to define the word "rock" for me cuz I never get the genres right! Confused

But I'm going to say the rolling stones, or black sabbath, or whitesnake, or um.....yeah, best define 'rock' please, but thats what i like best and i call it rock Smile

This question always get me, everyone has a different opinion on who is the best band based on opinion.

Greenday, foo fighters and nirvana, are you kidding me? They 're good bands but your saying from the 60's to now those are your choices for best band?

I hope this didn't come out being rude i just want to know why you chose those bands??

I put Green Day because they are one of the few bands I like where I love every track they have ever produced. I think they have been consistently great over a period of several years.

I put Nirvana, not just because of the aura that surrounds them, but quite simply because of the music. I don't know one person who could sit through their 'Unplugged' set and not be moved.

As you said, those are personal opinions. There is no way to be subjective on this, we all feel attatchments to different bands. So whats your opinion Chris?

I hope my question did come out dickish??

No i just expected to see Beatles and Pink Floyd.

This question is kinda hard for me i think theres a array of bands that did a bunch of things well. I don't want to sound redudant and say beatles but they were quite consistant and presented them self really well.

id say pink floyd have to be at least near the top, the best band of all time would have to be from the 60s or 70s, whose work and music has and still does stand the test of time, for example dark side of the moon or sgt peppers.

oasis are the only modern day band that would fit in with this category, their music and work will stand the test of time. bands like nirvana and green day may be good but will they be remebered in forty years time, maybe not, its far too soon to put modern day bands in the best band ever category. Smile

Being a musician i tend not to get involved in this exact kind of question.

My skills were based on certain people who got theirs from people before them. All this just keeps going back and back in time till you break the beat down to nothing but the base and drum and who do you think was banging those?

The africans were.

I think if it were left to the white man to come up with music we would all be singing hymns in church and nothing else.

U2. I will see them live at some point. Loving Nickleback just now though very rarely off the CD in car.
