The 'Reactivate' series of sets used to do it for me when I was on the rave scene in the early 90's. And The Orb's 'little fluffy clouds'. The best trance though came from Holland and France back then, but got sampled to death... that's what killed it. As for the Future Sound of London, humph... Altern8 was needed to balance their impotence-creating emptiness!

I love trance, as my username says Smile And I like both the old stuff and how the genre has developed. I think it's normal for a music genre to change over time. Why would we want to listen to music that sounds all the same all the time every year, every decade? You know, the usual pop and rock doesn't sound the same nowadays as it did 20 or 10 years ago.

In my opinion I think the old trance stuff was a bit more "mysterious" and spacey while the new stuff is more "soulful". At least when it comes to good quality tunes.

I'm into the darker side of electronic (EBM/Industrial/Futurepop) and it's the shizzle! Bands like Front Line Assembly (my fave band), Skinny Puppy, Delerium, VNV Nation, Combichrist, Front 242, Ayria, Nine Inch Nails and a squillion others. Don't write it off just yet - some links below for some very, very sexy music it'd be rude not to play loud. You did ask...

Curve are awesome! Yeah, i had to put the Delerium one in as a bit of 'calm before the storm' so to speak (as well as being a side project of Front Line Assembly)

Here's the best song you'll here all night (if a dirty groove and a video that'll give you nightmares is your bag)...
