21.07.2008, 14:10 quote
Hhhmmm well to be honest yes it would chop and change, the top ten, so instead i will just list the ten albums i've been listening to for the last 10 years and will still be listening to for the next 10 years.
(no order of preference):
1. ALL Robert Palmer's albums
2. ALL Elvis Presley albums
3. ALL Remmy Ongala albums
4. The Missa Luba
5. Soundtrack from One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
6. Soundtrack from Blade Runner
7. ALL Rod Stewart albums
8. ALL Bruce Willis albums
9. Jan Michel Jarre's Oxygene
10. Ravel's Bolero
Ooops, that wasnt quite "10 albums" -- and I could probably keep on adding....

So, we are *only allowed to like best of all* (cuz you say so) albums which we have copied and mixed ourselves? They are not proper albums, they are home-made ones.
I dont get you.
If I buy an album, and like most of what's on it, and play it to death, it's one of my favorites, ok?
I dont give a rat's arse who chose the tracks!

NO BEST OFS!
Strictly speaking Best-of's should not be listed as 'Best Album of all times'. A compilation is usually not compiled by the artist but by art directors of the record companies according to which singles sold best. As such a compilation is a collection of individual music pieces but with no artistic expression as a whole. This doesn't mean that you're not allowed to like them. You can like them just like you can have preferred tracks on an album. But listing "The Best Albums Of All Times" you don't just list the albums which have most of your favourite songs on them. You also tend to consider other criteria such as the conception of the album as a whole, whether there's a story told or whatever else connects individual songs. Another thought should be whether the album is timeless or whether you personally just like it because of memories connected to individual songs...
Those are the rules generally applied to such listings, but obviously this is not Rolling Stone Magazine, but the forum of a dating website so I guess it's just about whatever ten records/cds you like best and you can include whatever you like...
