Based on your unexpected like of The Wreckers, I can suggest the following artists (you'll need to Google them)
Shaye
The Waifs
The Wailin Jennys
Bic Runga
These are worth a listen too, if you want something different to your usual choice of music:
Xavier Rudd (the live album is good)
Silverchair (many will disagree, but I think "Diarama" is a good place to start)
Hope Sandoval
Cat Power
Isobel Campbell
Jen Gloeckner
Patricia Kaas
Po Girl
And for the quieter moments in your life, particularly suited for going to sleep to:
Tamas Wells (especially his first album)
Youssou N Dour
Lambchop ("Is A Woman" album)

You know as well as I do that if she wasn't Scottish you'd never have bothered buying the album (and probably wouldn't even know who she was)

How about Ravi Shankar? That's different to the norm, i love his stuff.....and for summat REALLY different from the norm, i have a great cd of Parween Sultana and Dilshad Khan.....peaceful, cures my insomnia every time. (robert palmer based some of his tracks on their rhythm).

I would choose Papa Wemba over Yousour n'dour any day.
If you are interested in different rhythms and dont mind the words in a language you dont understand, try miriam mursala, miriam makeba, remmie ongala (fantastic guy - a friend of my auntie), the misa luba, salif keita....all of which you can find on amazon.
And how about The Inkspots for those whimsical moments? I love 'em!

Is that her new single?
I quite like her music, although I thought she was absolutely dreadful when she played live on some TV programme I saw her on (I think it was The Friday Night Project). Although I do like her music, I do also find it a little generic in some ways, a sort of Celtic-tinged, acoustic-led Avril Lavigne, but her music is redeemed in my eyes by the fact that her songs aren't a constant barrage of angst-fuelled drivel. I do find some of her observational lyrical themes lean a little towards the 'teen scene' but she covers the topics intelligently. The instrumentation on her album is impeccable.

I'm aware this is more than a little late, but after looking at your profile, I'd recommend trying the following:
(in Artist->Album->Song order - so you can get the full record if you like the song)
Rock
===
The Breeders - Pod - Last Splash
Dinosaur Jr - You're Living All Over Me - Little Fury Things
Hip-Hop
=======
Clouddead - Ten - Dead Dogs Two
Buck 65 - Situation - Dang
Indie
===
The Moldy Peaches (bit of a Marmite band) - Downloading Porn With Davo
Clinic - Internal Wrangler - The Second Line
The Minutemen - Buzz And Howl Under The Influence Of Heat - Little Man With A Gun In His Hand
Blues
====
Robert Johnson - King Of The Delta Blues Singers - Hellhound On My Trail
Jazz
====
Charles Mingus - Oh Yeah - Devil Woman
Classical
======
Arvo Part - Tabula Rasa - Tabula Rasa
Let me know if you do try/like/dislike anything, I might be able to think up some other stuff you may like based on that.
