John Peel was great. I dont think there will ever be another DJ like him.
R.I.P John.

Promoted my band's debut gig on air back in March 2000without ever even having a heard a note of us (some might say he got off luckily there). Signing off the with phrase "I don't know what they're like but I admire their impudence". We might as well have just split up there and then!

I remember John saying he didn't understand how people keep reading books that interest them all their lives, yet the curiosity of music wanes, and records become something which mark time like old photographs. Boxed in the attic only for the occassional nostagic rumage, blowing off the dust, a sigh, and a wee flashback back into vitaly of youth, the TEENAGE KICKS. Treating your relationship with music in that way, was to him... like wilfully chopping off a limb.
yeah? YEAH!!!

Yeah, really miss him & the music he played.
I was in a record shop a month ago that was playing tapes of one of the festive 50 and it was hard to drag myself away.

Even if? That is an offence punishable by removing of ears in Grantland, as you obviously don't appreciate what you're hearing.
I still miss John Peel, nobody has stepped up to the plate really. Zane Lowe is our closest, but he'll never be peel.
