Moose, if you genuinely really thought you were shat you wouldn't have recorded yourself and post it on here!

I almost didn't post them on here, it took a lot of thinking and working up my bottle to do it.

Here's another one

"Phoenix Rising"

http://www.box.net/shared/vax953mrok

I see a phoenix rising
Like a phoenix from the ashes raised
Sweeping evil before him
Marching on towards better days

Marching to the cities, marching
Marching to the towns, marching
With your banners before you, marching
Spread what you say, and spread it all around now
Rising, phoenix rising

There's job to be done now
Don't back down from the coming fight
We're gonna lighten our load now
And drag us back from the endless night

Marching to the cities, marching
Marching to the towns, marching
With your banners before you, marching
Spread what you say, and spread it all around now
Rising, phoenix rising

Now many flags are unfurling
And standing up to the tyranny
Men and women with a common bond
Tell each other "You can lean on me now"

Marching to the cities, marching
Marching to the towns, marching
With your banners before you, marching
Spread what you say, and spread it all around now
Rising, phoenix rising

Well, I admire your bottle, well done you! I might seem a bit thick, but is that a kind of karaoke, or are you in a band? Are you playing the guitar there? I like that phoenix rising, but still like your version of tuesday's gone best.

Noooo I don't play the guitar (not very well anyway), it's my mate Jamie on guitar. It's just something we've been mucking about doing lately in our spare time. We aren't doing a band or anything just recording a few songs for a laugh.

"The Snow Fell"

He sat in a room
in a square the colour of blood
He'd rule the whole world
if there was a way that he could
He'd sit and he'd stare
at the minarets on top of the towers
For he was the beast
and he hatched his new plans to gain power

(Chorus)
As the snow fell
covering the dreams and ideals
As the snow fell
freezing the blood and the wheels
As the snow fell
they had to keep warm for survival
As the snow fell
and defeated the beast's only rivals

They took the old roads
that Napoleon had taken before
They fought as the forces of light
against the darkness in a holy war
One day they were looking out
in the sunshine on the cornflowers
The next day they were freezing to death
in the snow and the ice cold showers

(Chorus)

Then came the deadly road back
on the steppes of their retreat
The cold racked their bodies
but worse was the pain of defeat
And people who had hailed them once
now turned and looked away
These people now knew
that the beast was on his way

(Chorus)

You finally came back
to the borders of your Fatherland
Now enemies came
traitors everywhere at hand
Many people had fought and died
knowing that they had to win
And still it sickens my heart
to see the picture of the Red flag in Berlin

(Chorus)

I downloaded that one! Nothing wrong with a bit of stark morbidness. Ha! Not all songs are about fluffy pink clouds and luvvyduvvy cutesy puppies. It doesnt make you anything other than a good singer with something different to share with us all. I liked it, so there! Razz I found it quite haunting.

Some of my favorite tunes are morally challenging anyways. I particularly like the old Irish Freedom Fighters/Pro-IRA songs. I am *not* supportive of crazy religious men going round murdering innocent people in the name of their God, but their songs that rally the troops, Kevin Barry etc. are very moving, and the tunes are great too.
You've only got to hear the old Zulu Warrior songs (translated into English or not) to see how wonderful they can be, regardless of whose side you are on morally speaking.

I think a lot of people will probably see it as a pro-nazi song. It's not, as such, it's just a song about what they were trying to do by defeating Russia. Remember the Communist regime in Russia at the time had murdered over 30 million Christians, but you never hear about that holocaust, for some reason only the Jewish seem to matter. No one else cared what was going on at the time.. like it says, Germany were Russia's only rivals, and they weren't even defeated by the Russian army but by the weather. If Russia had been defeated at this time I think the world would probably be a lot different today (for the better.)
That's all I really have to say about that. Thhrrp!

I've just put another one up for anyone who isn't sick of this crap by now.

http://www.box.net/shared/ixbf2gwocg

This one was actually inspired by Shiraz's thread we had a while back about "would you die for your beliefs?" if anyone remembers it.

"Gone with the Breeze"

You're gone with the breeze
Just like the leaves on the trees
Gone are times with your family,
with your family.
You left life behind
You knew they had your death warrant signed
But there was no way
That you would compromise, no compromise.

(Chorus)
You're gone with the breeze
But you'll always be there on our minds
You're gone with the breeze
Just a memory of those times.
You're gone with the breeze
But you left a lot of people who loved you
You're gone with the breeze
But we'll remember you.

You stood against lies
And you would never hide
You stood face to face with the enemy,
with the enemy.
Against all the odds
Danger's path you trod
You knew it could only end in tragedy,
yeah in tragedy.

(Chorus)

All ended in devastation
For a man who loved his nation
Another warrior they took away,
yeah they took him away.
But in our hearts he did not die
Forever more his flag will fly
One day the land will stand in his memory,
Robert Mathews.

(Chorus)

"Why Worry?"

http://www.box.net/shared/hnk4o334ko

A sceptic said to me one sunny day,
"Why the worried look upon your face?"
He just smiled and he looked at me,
"What will be is gonna be."
I said, "Surely you will stand and fight
for what you believe to be right?"
He said "No, 'cos life's too short."
I said, "Your mind has now been bought."

(chorus)
Why worry? He said to me
Why worry? It was meant to be
Why worry? He asked me why?
I worry, 'cause I don't wanna die

I see what's happening, and it makes me mad
I think about it, and it makes me sad
The sceptic says that I should not think
Sit back and let the future sink

(chorus)

We'll stand and fight the rot
Fight for the hopes we have got
We will stand, we won't run away
And you will thank us on a future day

(chorus)

23.06.2008, 18:35 quote

moose666

"Suddenly"

http://www.box.net/shared/xy3uga2zos

We live in changing times
When certain thoughts are now a crime
Power flows through an evil pen
And freedom's light is growing dim

(chorus)
One day if, suddenly
I'm forced to take my leave
Will you still carry on
with the things that we believe?
One day if, suddenly
they take my life away
Will you still be fighting
to win a bright new day?

The people who've stood against us
They seem to be above the law
With the power to listen into
private moments in our lives
And the power to come kick down your door

(chorus)

Our strength has come from ideals many years old
A strength that has survived within our blood
A strength our foe has recognized,
and sworn to drag it down -
He wants to drag our people through the mud

(chorus)

23.06.2008, 18:49 quote

"Green Fields of France"

(cover of the folk song by Eric Bogle)

http://www.box.net/shared/1di1njesks

Well, how do you do, Private William McBride,
Do you mind if I sit down here by your graveside?
And rest for awhile in the warm summer sun,
I've been walking all day, and I'm nearly done.
And I see by your gravestone you were only 19
When you joined the glorious fallen in 1916,
Well, I hope you died quick and I hope you died clean
Or, Willie McBride, was it slow and obscene?

(Chorus)
Did they Beat the drum slowly?
Did they play the fife lowly?
Did the rifles fire o'er you
as they lowered you down?
Did the bugles sound The Last Post in chorus?
Did the pipes play the Flowers of the Forest?

And did you leave a wife or a sweetheart behind
In some loyal heart is your memory enshrined?
And, though you died back in 1916,
To that loyal heart are you forever 19?
Or are you a stranger without even a name,
Forever enshrined behind some glass pane,
In an old photograph, torn and tattered and stained,
And fading to yellow in a brown leather frame?

(Chorus)

The sun's shining down on these green fields of France;
The warm wind blows gently, and the red poppies dance.
The trenches have vanished long under the plow;
No gas and no barbed wire, no guns firing now.
But here in this graveyard that's still No Man's Land
The countless white crosses in mute witness stand
To man's blind indifference to his fellow man.
And a whole generation who were butchered and damned.

(Chorus)

And I can't help but wonder, now Willie McBride,
Do all those who lie here know why they died?
Did you really believe them when they told you "The Cause?"
Did you really believe that this war would end wars?
Well the suffering, the sorrow, the glory, the shame
The killing, the dying, it was all done in vain,
For Willie McBride, it all happened again,
And again, and again, and again, and again.

(Chorus)
