I'm usually into the euphoric and energetic side of trance, house and breaks, but I feel I owe it to myself to be open minded about stuff I've not heard before. Kathy, your description of this genre sounded intriguing, so I checked some of these artists out, and there's some quality electonic music there, with one slight flaw in each case: The lyrics.

Covenant's "Stalker" Club mix is really very good - the music was very reminiscent of B.B.E.'s "Seven Days and One Week". Also there were a couple of Apoptygma's tracks I liked - especially "You Keep Me FBA" and "Untitled 5".

The trouble is, most of the tracks I heard (VNV and Assemblage are very guilty of this) sounded like they were trying to be the electronic version of Sisters of Mercy. (I loved "This Corrosion", but I can only take so much before reaching for the razor blades!)

If they all released instrumental versions of their tracks, I'd probably enjoy them a great deal more. I found a Ferry Corsten remix of "Kathy's Song" on vinyl at one of my usual online stores, but it sounded disappointing, and was sold out anyway. I also found the original 12" on Gemm, but it was $23!

Anyhoo, thanks for broadening my mind a little. I'll keep looking out for club mixes from this genre.
