This is going to be difficult, narrowing it down to 8.

What a Waster - The Libertines
Howl - Florence and the Machine
The '59 Sound - Gaslight Anthem
Blowin in the Wind - Bob Dylan
All Along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix
Ever Fallen in Love - The Buzzcocks
Love Will Tear us Apart - Joy Division
Man Who Sold the World - Nirvana

I had real difficulty with choosing one Bob Dylan, but I normally will go for Blowin' in the Wind. Not because it's my favourite, but because it's getting advert time at the minute, and it makes it stick in my head.
