So you reckon Meatloaf is better than the Beatles, surely you are having a giraffe
Dont get me wrong I think Meatloaf is great, I have most of his albums (including the mid 80's ones)
But meatloaf is a one trick pony, and everyone knows he was only at his best when jim steinman produced him.

As for the Beatles, most people either prefer their early stuff or the later stuff, but when you consider the changes they made and compare their first album to their last via all of the albums, you will see that no other band/artist has even come close to acheiving what they did.
They revolutionised music by doing what they wanted.
Without the Beatles you would not have most of the bands since.
It is interesting to consider how many bands have copied beatles songs.

And even when they changed from moptops, to hippie like figurs, when they played straight rock and roll, through to american ballad esque pieces, through to psychedelic stuff and beyond, that they were always top of their game and untouchable.
17 number ones in th Uk from like 25 releases shows how good they are

I personally think meatloaf is better. You obviously think the beatles are better.

This is a debate that could go on forever.

wow, ok now im getting slightly more impressed, i hope this next statement makes sense
The Beatles are the best band ever,
Queen are the best Group ever.

If you compared the members of queen to the beatles it is quite interesting.

Roger taylor was definetly a more accomploshied drummer then ringo starr, John deacon was probably a better bass player than mccartney, Brian may was a better lead guitarist then harrison, and mercury was a better singer than lennon.
Brian may was a classically trained guitarist, harrison wasn't
in fact the beatles became a band through friendship and went on to basically invent modern music. and they were a band in the true sense of the word.

As much as i like queen (i have all their albums) i would still say they are a better group, but not a better band.

(by the way i also own every single beatles song they ever recorded)

There isn't much difference between a band and a group, really.
However, you are right.

They both have a lot of influence on other artists/groups/bands.
But, i have to say, it's easier to copy a beatles song than a queen song..........

I would say the difference between a band and a group is this.
If you took any member out of a band and replaced them with someone else then they wouldnt be as good. Almost as if you need all the members to make the band complete. Whereas with a group, replacement of a member may not change the chemistry, as if the group were just individuals who play together.

You could put brian may in any group/band and he would improve it, but if you did the same with harrison it probably wouldnt.

I would be interested to know what your response is to this,
What kind of beatles stuff are you most familiar with?

Or to put it another way can you name 5 beatles songs?

Fair enough.

And i can happily name more than five.
my favourite ones are:
You won't see me
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Let it be
yesterday
fixing a hole

Need i go on?

No you need not go on, but from the list you gave i am kinda thinking that you are quite into the middle period of the beatles?
is that a fair comment?

I am talking about the rubber soul through sgt peppers period?
