Hi Mulder - possibly a bit late, but here's my thoughts on your playlist. Mostly excellent, and some of my favourite tracks on there (Stone Roses, James, Pulp). Couple of suggestions - if you HAVE to play it, I'd stick I Am the Walrus at the end, it's not the sort of track to get people up on the dance floor (unless they're really hammered). I'd also be quite happy if I never heard Abba at a function ever again, it's been done to death. I guess it goes down well though. I'd stick Superstition a bit nearer the start - it's a dancefloor filler. Some T-Rex might be good in there. And a bit of 80's house - like MARRS - might work well. And it might be worth finding out what their first dance was at their wedding - it's guaranteed to get your friend's parents on the floor. Might also be worth finding out what was number one when your friend was born? Though in 1987, it may well have been something hellish from Stock, Aitken and Waterman.

Assuming that they got married in March 1983, here are some of the biggest songs from around that time. Some would work pretty well in your playlist (apologies if there's any repetition, I'm too lazy to read your list again).

Eurythmics Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)
Michael Jackson Billie Jean
OMD Genetic Engineering
Big Country Fields Of Fire
New Order Blue Monday
Wham Wham Rap (Enjoy What You Do)

You could use Pink - Get the Party Started (Sweet Dreams Mix) instead of the Eurythmics one, that'd involve the young 'uns too? And as for Billie Jean - surely it's illegal to have a party and NOT play that?

Altered Images, Soft Cell and The Fun Boy Three were all pretty popular around then too.

God, I feel old. Apologies for the lengthy response, I'll do anything to get out of decorating.

Hope it's a great night!

Mosy decent djs do know what they are doing and will carry a mixture of music (by the way I used to dj and do karaoke Very Happy)
