You were born towards the end of the punk era if you are 26. Punk was big from the end of 1976 until 1984. Then it went underground and the scene shrank very small. That was when I got into to it in 1984 until 1989. It was good in a way between those years as because the scene was so small it was like a family where all the punks in a town or city knew each other.

I caught the tail end of the anarcho punk music of the 80s, our local alternative club had bands like Conflict and Culture Shock, and of course Crass. I found 21 seconds of live Crass on youtube - Owe us a Living?

I remember what nearly killed off punk in the mid eighties it was the punk/metal cross over craze which led to many leading punk bands of the time either turning fully heavy metal or else taking a big influence from it.
