"Yes, alpha male, you have two men stood at the bar, identical in looks except one difference, one is a skinny shy guy and the other a cocky muscular guy, which one gets left stood at the bar alone?"

The one left at the bar will be the cocky muscular one, if his cockiness pisses me off! And it also depends on which one has the NICER personality.......oh and as I've said in another thread, neither skinny nor muscular is eye candy for me, so I would probably not approach either, I'd more likely approach the chubby chap sat in the corner minding his own business.
Where oh where do you men get your daft ideas about Alpha males and all that jazz??!! That worked in in the 1950s after the war and men had to fight to get their women back when women suddenly realised they could work and earn their own crust after and during the war women HAD TO cuz the men were away fighting....so when they came back after the war something 'masculine' had been taken away from them, so they had to do this whole Leader of the Pack, Alpha Male stuff to get the woman.....
Just because someone swung you over in favor of some guy more muscular, more cocky, more confident, more whatever - hell, he might have more freckles if thats what the girl liked - it doesnt mean to say that you are 'less than' in *most* or *all* womens eyes. It just means....you havent possibly been the favorable one. Simple as.
Its got nothing to do with who's more cocky, confident, "nice", skinny, muscular, what color eyes they have blahblah. Its called the luck of the draw.
One day you will be the ONLY guy stood at the bar. Now, will you be left standing alone? Is it because you are too skinny? Or not muscular enough? Or maybe just maybe you wont end up stood alone at that bar because you can hold a decent conversation and you are pleasant company. Or maybe she wont think so. If she doesnt, never mind, move on to the next possibility but dont miss seeing The One while you are too busy naval gazing.
Wink

No, not everyone will fall into the same stereotype but I see my example time and time again in my workplace, I work in a bar-come-nightclub. It all depends on what circles you travel in, I imagine that the circles you travel in aren't anything like mine. As most of the people I see are 18 - 25s and the alpha male argument stands up almost without fail. The skinny geek may end up buying girls drinks but he isn't taking any of them home. That's the way things are here in Plymouth. As I said as we get older our perception of what is attractive changes. When we are younger we tend to look for some no strings fun but as we get older our minds turn to finding a good man/woman to start a family with. So your argument probably stands up for the post 30 group and my argument definitely stands up in the sub 30 group.

btw I wasn't using you as an example, Rocketgirl, I wouldn't fall into the category of taking home the slim big breasted women either as my preference veers towards the fuller figure woman.

Sorry, got tired of reading all the BS about why relationships don't work. Thought I'd add something to the point.
