Having a relationship in the first place would be a start

Companionship.
Respect for one another's need for personal interests, space, friends.
Sharing all the above sometimes.
Loving that person, and being loved.

Sharing-the good and the bad. Laughing together. Being secure enough to allow the other a bit of space, but also making sure you have some proper 'together' time... 'specially if there are kids. Hugs n cuddles. Being able to have fall outs and off days and know it means nothing.
